Liverpool will make a move for Diego Costa if Philippe Coutinho leaves

That’s according to sensational claims from Spanish outlet Don Balon.

They say Jurgen Klopp is ready to challenge Atletico Madrid for the madcap Brazilian’s signature.

But a big move from Anfield depends on Coutinho.

He has been heavily linked with the Catalans and has been the subject of three substantial, but unsuccessful, bids.

Don Balon say Liverpool will use the Coutinho money to get Costa out of Stamford Bridge.

The Spain international is in self-imposed exile in Brazil and is refusing to return to training.

He wants to join Atletico Madrid but they have been unable to agree a deal with Chelsea for his signature.

Their position is confused further by then fact they are under a transfer embargo and are banned from registering players until January 1, 2018.

Atleti are refusing to meet the Premier League champions’ asking price and Costa is growing tired of waiting.

But if Barcelona can prise Coutinho away from Merseyside Klopp is ready to strike with a big bid to land Costa.

Italian duo AC Milan and Inter Milan are also watching the situation closely but everyone knows the Spanish capital is Costa’s dream destination.

He made that clear with a statement earlier this week.

Costa said: “My destination is already made clear.

“I must return to Atletico Madrid.

“It turns out that there is the impasse that Chelsea does not want to release me.

“But I believe that this situation will be resolved now on my return to Spain.”
