Manchester United are not prepared to break the bank for Gareth Bale

The Welshman is a target for Jose Mourinho but even he has admitted it will be a very difficult deal to do.

Bale has insisted he is happy at Real Madrid and he appears to be in Zinedine Zidane’s plans going forward.

He was expected to be the man to make way for Monaco sensation Kylina Mbappe.

However, the prodigal Frenchman looks to be heading towards Paris St-Germain.

And Spanish outlet Diario Gol say the Red Devils ‘will not offer more than €100m' (£90m) for the former Tottenham star.

Diario Gol go on to describe United’s offers as ‘laughable’ which may be true considering the market this summer.

The Red Devils have been keen on Bale for years and tried to buy him from Southampton and latterly Tottenham.

But with Real unlikely to get the kind of fee they want for Bale it looks like he will stay in the Spanish capital.

Mourinho has told the Welshman he needs to talk if he wants to come to Old Trafford.

But Bale refused to issue the come-and-get-me-plea the United boss had been hoping for earlier this week.

He said: “I’m just concentrating on my football. I’m not listening to anything. I don’t read anything.

“Obviously I get told bits and bobs but I’m just enjoying being here, playing as much as I can and winning trophies.

“I haven’t had any of those conversations [with Real Madrid]. I’m trying to get my fitness up pretty much after not playing fully for eight or nine months.”
