That's the view of Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri.

The Croatia international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months.

Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of the winger, 28.

Inter boss Luciano Spalletti has been vocal about United's interest in his star man, claiming he must consider Perisic's wishes.

He said: "I want to keep him but we must consider the opinion of the club and player."

And Palmeri claims Perisic is now closing in on a move to United following Spalletti's comments.

He tweeted: "Perisic even closer to Manchester United after Inter manager saying that he has to deal with the will of the player and the club."

Perisic is said to be keen to work under Mourinho next season.

However, Inter and United have so far failed to agree on a transfer fee for the attacker.

Inter want around £48m for their star man this summer but the Red Devils are unwilling to pay the asking price.
