Starsport understands the Red Devils are closing in on Morata, with the Spain international cutting his honeymoon short in hope of speeding up the deal.

The 24-year-old is keen to quit the Bernabeu after struggling to get game time under Zinedine Zidane last campaign.

However, according to Spanish transfer outlet Don Balon, Morata’s move to United could be bad news for the Red Devils.

They reckon Real will up their interest in De Gea after Morata moves to Old Trafford.

Don Balon even say Real president Florentino Perez is letting the striker join United for a cut-price fee in hope of Mourinho being willing to let De Gea leave.

The 26-year-old nearly joined the La Liga champions in 2015 but a late fax halted the move.

Real will renew their interest in the stopper in the coming weeks.

Don Balon add that De Gea is Perez’s dream signing and he’s desperate to bring him to the Bernabeu this summer.

Reports today suggested United are readying a move for Manchester City star Joe Hart if De Gea goes to Real.

Hart, 30, spent last season on loan at Torino after being frozen out by Pep Guardiola and his Etihad future is up in the air.
