WEST HAM tried to re-sign striker Demba Ba this month.

West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan revealed the news this morning.

The Hammers have been on the look out for a striker all month.

A move for Brentford star Scott Hogan looks to have fallen through as Aston Villa are now favourites to sign him.

And now it's been revealed they missed out on Ba due to his injury problems.

"We looked to bring Demba Ba back this window but were told he was 3 weeks from playing after recovering from injury," he told talkSPORT.

Ba is currently playing for Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua.

Ba scored seven goals in 12 Premier League appearances during a spell at West Ham in 2011.

He also spent time at Newcastle and Chelsea in the Premier League.
