The Brazil-born forward has been dropped for their trip to Leicester today after a bust-up with Conte's back room staff.
The official line is that the 28-year-old has a back problem but he normally would have played through it given his importance to the team.
Conte was asked about his superstar striker prior to today;s game and is adamant they've played without him before and they should be fine to do it again.
Conte told BT Sport: "This is not the first time we play without Diego.
"We played against Bournemouth and you have the time to prepare.
"We prepared very well for this game.
"It's an important game for us.
"It's important to restart.
"This game is very tough against Leieceter and we know this but we prepare very well."
