The 26-year-old joined the Red Devils from Southampton in a deal worth £24m a little over 12 months ago.
Despite that hefty fee, he failed to replicate the form that had seen Louis Van Gaal go head-to-head with Arsenal gaffer Arsene Wenger in the battle to secure his services.
Since Mourinho succeeded the Dutchman this summer he’s found himself marginalised and has so far seen just seen five minutes of Premier League action this season.
And, according to The Sun, the Frenchman would be allowed to move should a suitable offer come along.
A Manchester United insider told the newspaper: "Morgan’s future is very uncertain at the club. He’s barely played a game this season.
"He has played against Fenerbahce and Northampton, but injuries among other things have stopped his progress.
"He’s clearly very talented, but things haven’t really worked out for him since Jose came in."
With his future hanging in the balance, and Mourinho apparently ready to get rid, Schneiderlin will be hoping he’s given the opportunity to showcase his ability in United’s EFL Cup showdown with cross-town rivals Manchester City on Wednesday night.
