Steven Gerrard has been linked with a return to Liverpool once he leaves MLS outfit LA Galaxy

The Reds legend left Merseyside in May last year after 17 years with his boyhood club.

And he’s spent the past season-and-a-half with MLS outfit LA Galaxy.

Last night though he seemed to suggest his time in the USA could be coming to an end after posting a cryptic message on Instagram.

"Living in Los Angeles and playing for the great Galaxy supporters has been a privilege," he wrote.

"You have made this place feel like home to me. This city and this club will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you."

Speaking after his side’s 2-1 Premier League win over West Brom, Klopp admitted he would be very much open to Gerrard heading back to Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp took charge of Liverpool a few months after Steven Gerrard's Anfield exit

"Steven Gerrard – and this will be a really big surprise – is always so welcome at Liverpool FC," he said.

"You cannot imagine how welcome so absolutely no problem.

"But everything we will talk to each other about will stay in these talks. That is how I know Stevie and that is how I am.

Steven Gerrard famously led Liverpool to Champions League final glory against AC Milan in 2005

"Nobody should be worried that we don’t have space for Steven Gerrard. Everything will be fine, 100 per cent."

Whether Gerrard would continue his playing career in England is unknown.

Though, given his revered status among the Reds faithful, his comeback would be celebrated in any capacity.
