FRESH START FOR HART: England's No.1 looks to be moving to Italy

The England captain, who plans to retire from international football after the 2018 World Cup, says Hart’s doing everything he can to remain in contention for the No.1 jersey.

Hart’s set to leave Manchester for Italian side Torino this week after Pep Guardiola brought Barcelona keeper Claudio Bravo to the Etihad to replace him.

"Joe has been in a difficult situation and knowing him like I do he wants to play and so he has gone somewhere where he can do that,” said Rooney.

“This is the move that he wants and I wish him well and I am sure that it can benefit England.

"Joe is doing everything he can to make sure that Sam's decision sways his way."

Hart found himself out in the cold after a poor showing at Euro 2016 where he contributed to England’s embarrassing exit to Iceland in the round-of-16.

He’s hoping to rebuild his career at Torino where he’s set to move on a year-long loan.

He is in Turin today to complete medical checks and agree his personal terms.

A loan move to Sunderland was among his options but Hart has opted for a new start in Italy, where he will become the first English goalkeeper to play in Serie A since the league began in 1929.
