The under-fire Blues boss called on the club to let star players speak out in public and reveal what is really going on behind the scenes.

The champions crashed to their fourth Premier League defeat of the season on Saturday, losing 3-1 at home to Southampton to leave them languishing in 16th.

And in an amazing post-match outburst, Mourinho demanded Chelsea's head of media, Steve Atkins, set up a press conference this week with skipper John Terry, star striker Diego Costa and Brazilian ace Ramires to try and clear the air.

"If they tell you they don't trust me, is the only thing that can make me resign," said Mourinho. "The only thing.

"People can say what they want. You should really ask the players and not go with sources, fake sources and the players told a friend and the friend told the agent and the agent is not happy with me because I don't play his player.

FEELING THE HEAT: Jose Mourinho

"I don't think you should do that. You should go straight to the players. Ask this guy (Atkins) to go straight to the players.

"Get a table at Cobham next week. John Terry doesn't go to the national team, Diego Costa doesn't go, Ramires doesn't go.

"Put two or three guys at your disposal and ask them. But not fake sources. The players at the table, face to face."

Club owner Roman Abramovich is understood to have stayed at Stamford Bridge after Saturday's defeat until after midnight to meet with his board, although Mourinho's position is not believed to be under immediate threat.

That said, a source close to the Russian stressed the lack of an obvious replacement was working in Mourinho's favour.

For the first time at Stamford Bridge there was crowd unrest with Mourinho as fans shouted "You don't know what you're doing" when their manager replaced goal-scorer Willian and then took off half-time substitute Nemanja Matic to send on striker Loic Remy.
