The German international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months, and according to reports, the Red Devils are keen to sign the 28-year-old.

But Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has ruled out signing the former Stuttgart star by hinting the club can't afford his wages.

Arsenal are closing to securing their first signing of the January transfer window.

According to reports, the Gunners are closing in on a deal to sign Dinamo Zagreb star Marcelo Brozovic.
