NO GO: Pardew says Newcastle will not bring in Isla [GETTY]

Newcastle have been strongly linked with a move for the versatile £7.5m-rated Juventus star Isla, who helped his country to the last 16 of the World Cup in Brazil.

But after splashing out £15m this summer to bring in Emmanuel Riviere, Siem de Jong and Ayoze Perez, the Toon boss admits his priorities are elsewhere.

That's despite highly-rated Isla's ability to operate in a number of positions, including right winger, central midfield and full-back.

The Newcastle boss said: "So far in pre-season, it's been nice to see the new boys all contribute in a really positive way.

"It's clear that we have more offensive options now after the arrivals of Emmanuel, Siem and Ayoze.

"All the new boys are contributing in a really positive way, and we're really happy with how we're doing."

Dutch international De Jong has scored in both his pre-season appearances, and Riviere opened his account in the 4-0 friendly stroll against Sydney on Tuesday.
