Co-owner David Sullivan spoke this week of employing the Scot for 'years' and although contract talks are on hold until the end of the season Moyes has a similar outlook.

West Ham will revamp their recruitment processes this summer, handing more power to the manager in the transfer market - and Moyes sees himself as part of that going forward.

'We can do things in a slightly different way to how it was done in the past and hopefully it will work,' Moyes said.

'I want the West Ham supporters to think that David Moyes is the right man for the job. I want the West Ham board to think David Moyes is the right man.

'And I also want to see that West Ham is the right club for David Moyes because I'm ambitious, I want to be challenging against the big boys.'

Moyes took Everton into the Premier League's top four in the most-successful job of his career so far and after struggling at United, Real Sociedad and Sunderland, believes he could perform similarly well at West Ham.

'It took me years to build Everton up and in the end I got a job which I thought would make thing easier to win cups and trophies,' he said. 'I'm happy to do that again but I don't know if I'd get the time to build up West Ham that I got at Everton.

'You need to have the tools to be instantly successful, so I need to know that when it comes to it we can do a bit of damage here.'
