Chelsea left back Baba Rahman has joined Bundesliga title hopefuls Schalke on loan until the end of next season.
The 23-year-old Ghanaian, who was on loan at Schalke for several months of the 2016-17 campaign, has only made 23 appearances for Chelsea since arriving in west London from Augsburg in 2015.
A statement published on Chelsea's official website announced the 18-month loan deal for Rahman and also said Brazilian forward Nathan had moved to Belenenses in Portugal on loan until the summer.
Newcastle United had hoped Daniel Sturridge could become a permanent signing beyond this season before he defected to West Brom, writes CRAIG HOPE.
The Magpies were expecting the Liverpool striker to travel to the North East on Monday lunchtime before undergoing a medical and joining on loan until the end of the campaign.
However, Rafa Benitez and the club’s hierarchy were left furious when news reached them that Sturridge had decided to sign for Alan Pardew's West Brom, his representatives citing 'geographical reasons' for his change of heart. Sturridge's family are based in the Midlands.
Fulham appear to have rejected a second offer for Tom Cairney from West Ham and here's a fun timeline of this transfer saga, courtesy of KIERAN GILL:
- West Ham offer £15m for Cairney

Aston Villa midfielder Aaron Tshibola has joined Kilmarnock on loan until the end of the season, the Ayrshire club have announced.
Tshibola, who spent the first half of this season on loan at MK Dons, is Steve Clarke's first signing of the January transfer window.
The 23-year-old has previously worked with the Killie boss at Reading and Aston Villa.
Tshibola told the club's official website said: 'I'm delighted to be here.
'It has taken quite a while to get here but I'm pleased to join the squad.
'I'm reunited with Steve Clarke and I can't wait to get started.
'He is a top coach, he has been a massive influence in my career and he has helped me develop.
'I want to hit the ground running and help the squad, and the goal is to make sure we finish in the top six.'
One man who is not for moving is Barcelona star Gerard Pique.
The Spain star said it is 'Barca or nothing' after penning new four-and-a-half-year deal which includes a £441m buyout clause.
West Brom have signed Egyptian defender Ali Gabr on loan from Zamalek until the end of the season.
The Premier League club announced the deal on their official website, and said Gabr would now team up with compatriot Ahmed Hegazi in the Baggies defence.
'I'm here to help the team and do my job. I'm very happy and excited to be here,' he told wba.co.uk.
Walkes is not the only Spurs player heading out on loan today.
Midfielder Luke Amos, 20, will spend the rest of the season at Stevenage in League Two.
As well as agreeing a short-term move away from Tottenham, Amos has penned a new contract with the Premier League side until the end of next season.
Young Tottenham defender Anton Walkes has joined League One side Portsmouth on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old, who can also play in midfield, spent much of last year at US outfit Atlanta United.
SAMI MOKBEL: Tottenham are finalising the finer details of a proposed £22million swoop for Lucas Moura.
Sportsmail understands Paris Saint-Germain have an agreement with Spurs over a fee for the forward.
But an agreement over the structure of the deal with regards to how much money Spurs will pay up front is still to found
MIKE KEEGAN: Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool will not replace Philippe Coutinho in the current transfer window.
Despite surprise losses to West Brom and Swansea in recent weeks, Klopp does not feel Coutinho's departure is linked to their recent slide and will not be rushed into a panic buy.
'Phil Coutinho is not to be replaced in this transfer window,' the German said. 'We can stop thinking about it.' He added that Liverpool's issues of late have been with defence, rather than attack.
'It is not about replacing anyone,' Klopp said. 'It is about using our own opportunities, our own tools, players, tactics and formations.'
SIMON JONES: Southampton are hopeful of a breakthrough in negotiations for £30million-rated Spartak Moscow winger Quincy Promes after the Russian side agreed a £9million fee with Anderlecht for Sofianne Hanni.
Promes is a Netherlands international 25 appearances and four goals for his country. The winger has been at Spartak since 2014 when he joined from Dutch side FC Twente.
Southampton have money to spend after banking £75million from the sale of defender Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool earlier this window.
SIMON JONES: Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic has interest from Swansea City and Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.
The 23-year-old Serbian, who was a £20m signing from Benfica for former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers in 2014, has also had interest from Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow.
Swansea want a wide player after failing to persuade Nicolas Gaitan to join from Atletico Madrid.
SIMON JONES: West Ham are willing to offer £20million for Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin though Everton want to recoup the £24m they paid to Manchester United.
The France international has failed to impress since his move to Goodison Park last year and has been in-and-out of the Hammers XI under David Moyes.
MIKE KEEGAN: West Brom appear to have won the race to sign Daniel Sturridge on loan for the rest of the season.
The Liverpool striker has been heavily linked with a temporary switch to Newcastle United. But he is set to head to the Midlands rather than the north east in a move which will come as a huge blow for Rafa Benitez.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Huddersfield Town tomorrow, Jurgen Klopp was tight-lipped on the future of the England international. ‘We will see what happens here,’ he said. ‘It makes no sense to talk about it. You write about it anyway.’
SIMON JONES: West Brom's offer for Sturridge means they are unlikely to make a move for Watford captain Troy Deeney. The Baggies had proposed an initial loan with a view to an £18m move for the striker.
SIMON JONES: Everton midfielder Mo Besic is wanted on loan by Middlesbrough.
The 25-year-old Bosnia international is surplus to requirements at Goodison Park as Sam Allardyce looks to offload some of his fringe players.
Teammate Morgan Schneiderlin is also a target for West Ham while Davy Klaassen is understood to have been proposed as a makeweight in an approach for Inter Milan's Marcelo Brozovic.
ADAM SHERGOLD: Cardiff City could offer Yasin Ben El-Mhanni an escape route from Newcastle United amid the ongoing racism controversy surrounding Peter Beardsley.
Sportsmail understands El-Mhanni and his agent Godfrey K Torto met with Cardiff manager Neil Warnock and club officials last week to discuss a potential move to the Championship side.
It comes after El-Mhanni complained about alleged bullying and racist discrimination by Newcastle under-23 coach Beardsley, who was subsequently suspended pending the outcome of an investigation.
MATT BARLOW: Chelsea are yet to reach an agreement in their attempts to sign Edin Dzeko from Roma and will consider alternatives before Wednesday’s deadline.
Antonio Conte had identified Dzeko as the type of striker who could give the Premier League champions a lift in the second half of the season.
Chelsea however have been reluctant to sanction a heavy investment in a player who will be 32 next month.
BETFAIR: Reports are that the Dzeko deal to Chelsea is off – 8/13 out to 5/4 (4/7 to stay)
Chelsea forward Charly Musonda has arrived in Glasgow ahead of his expected loan spell at Celtic.
It has been widely reported that the 21-year-old will put pen to paper on an 18-month contract with the Parkhead club.
The Belgium Under 21 has made seven appearances for the Blues this season, including three in the Premier League, since returning from a loan spell at Spanish side Real Betis.
SIMON JONES: Borussia Dortmund have held further talks over a loan deal for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.
As they reach agreement for the sale of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal at £53million with a further £2.5m in add-ons based on Champions League qualification, Dortmund are focusing on a replacement.
Batshuayi is their main target though Dortmund asked about a loan for Olivier Giroud. However, Arsenal would prefer a permanent sale for £30m plus after talks with Chelsea over the weekend.
Other options for Dortmund include former Blackburn Rovers striker Anthony Modeste who is playing for Tianjin Quanjian.
BETFAIR: Reports are that the Dzeko deal to Chelsea is off – 8/13 out to 5/4 (4/7 to stay)
DOMINIC KING: Newcastle have joined the race to sign Daniel Sturridge and are looking to give the striker a platform to revive his career.
The England international is anxious to leave Anfield before Wednesday's deadline and has been the subject of interest from Sevilla and Inter Milan.
Sevilla had an offer to pay all of Sturridge's £130,000 per week wages until the end of the season rejected, while Inter Milan had been prepared to pay a £2million loan fee to take him to Serie A but are now pursuing Javier Pastore of Paris Saint-Germain.
ADAM CRAFTON: Malaga want to sign Watford's Isaac Success on loan until the end of the season.
The forward Success arrived in a club record £12.5m deal in the summer of 2016 but has scored only one goal for the club.
He has made one appearance this season owing to a knee injury and new manager Javi Gracia is prepared to allow the player to leave the club on loan.
The 22-year-old knows opportunities will be hard to come by and is prepared to move to Spain, where he has previously played in La Liga for Granada.
JOE BERNSTEIN: Stoke City are to close to ending their long search for an energetic midfielder by signing Senegal international Badou Ndiaye from Galatasaray.
A fee of around £14million has been agreed between the two clubs and the 27-year-old should be able to complete the move once work permit issues have been sorted out. He is scheduled to be in Stoke on Tuesday morning.
Ndiaye will become Stoke’s third signing of the window following the arrival of defenders Moritz Bauer and Kostas Stafylidis.
RIATH AL-SAMARRAI: Swansea midfielder Roque Mesa is expected to finalise his loan move to Sevilla in the next 24 hours – less than seven months after arriving in Wales.
The 28-year-old joined for £11million from Las Palmas in July but has failed to establish himself in the team, both under Paul Clement and then Carlos Carvalhal.
He is currently in Spain as talks between Swansea and Sevilla continue, with no hitches predicted in wrapping up the move.
SIMON JONES: Brighton have completed the signing of Leonardo Ulloa from Leicester City on loan until the end of the season.
Sportsmail's Joe Bernstein reported Brighton had come in for their former striker at the weekend and manager Chris Hughton said: 'We're delighted to welcome Leo back to the club.
'He's scored goals at Premier League level and will further strengthen our attacking options. I wasn't here during his first spell at the club, but I know he was very well thought of by all concerned, including the club's supporters.
SIMON JONES: Rennes have called a press conference for today to unveil striker Diafra Sakho as he completes his £9million move from West Ham United.
The 28-year-old, who scored 24 goals in 71 appearances, will join for an initial £4.5m with a further £3.5m following in bonuses.
West Ham are reviving interest in Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin as they work through a list of targets prior to Wednesday's deadline.
Goalkeeper Joe Hart wants to leave to gain more game time but is expected to stay on loan for the rest of the season.
SIMON JONES: West Ham striker Diafra Sakho has passed a medical ahead of his prospective £9million move to Rennes, while a Hammers move for Shandong Luneng's Graziano Pelle has stalled over wage demands.
Sakho resumed talks with Rennes over a prospective move on Friday with his future at the London Stadium having been long in doubt.
The French side have been chasing Sakho since the summer, facing competition in recent weeks from Swansea City and more notably Crystal Palace, but are now ready to close a deal to take the Senegalese striker to Ligue 1.
JONATHAN SPENCER: Arsenal have agreed a club-record fee of £55.4million with Borussia Dortmund for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gabon striker, who has been the subject of intense interest this month from the Gunners, is also set to be the club's highest-ever paid player.
Arsenal have offered Aubameyang a three-and-a-half year contract worth £180,000-a-week as they look to bolster their attacking options.
ALEX MARTIN: Watford are ready to make a move for Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu as Javi Gracia looks to add Premier League experience to his squad before the end of the January window.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Ernesto Valverde is happy to let the 23-year-old quit the Nou Camp just six months after the club activated a buy-back clause to sign him from Everton.
Having impressed during two seasons at Goodison Park, Watford's new manager Gracia is targeting a deal before Wednesday's deadline as he looks to strengthen his options in attack.
SIMON JONES: Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a target for LA Galaxy once again.
The 36-year-old Swede is free to talk to other clubs as he enters the final six months of his Manchester United contract and the MLS side are exploring ways of raising revenue to sign him for the upcoming season.
Ibrahimovic suffered a setback following his rapid recovery from knee ligament surgery and has been rebuilding his fitness once again with altitude bike training.
Galaxy have also discussed signing Ross McCormack from Aston Villa. Their coach Sigi Schmid has revamped the squad after their worst season in franchise history. Galaxy are at their limit of three designated players but do plan more additions, potentially with the help of sponsorship money.
SIMON JONES: Newcastle United have made an inquiry for Viktoria Plzen's £10million-rated striker Michael Krmencik, and are hopeful of concluding an agreement for Sparta Prague goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
The Magpies have struggled for goals so far this season, possessing the fifth worst record in the Premier League - with 22 goals - and Sunday's 3-0 FA Cup defeat by Chelsea left little confidence for Rafael Benitez's strikers.
Benitez has targeted signing a striker and a goalkeeper before the transfer window closes on Wednesday, with Krmencik likely to meet the requirements of the former category.
SIMON JONES: Crystal Palace are lining up an £11million bid for Burnley striker Ashley Barnes who has 18 months left on his contract.
Barnes has been an unlikely target for Chelsea this window but is unlikely to join the reigning Premier League champions.
Roy Hodgson also remains interested in Lille's Ibrahim Amadou and West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore.
CHRIS CUTMORE: Joe Hart could try to end his loan deal with West Ham before the end of the transfer window on Wednesday.
Hart has barely featured for West Ham since David Moyes took charge, with Adrian starting in goal in the last 10 Premier League matches, and he faces little opportunity for more first-team football this season after West Ham's FA Cup humiliation at Wigan.
The 30-year-old keeper, cast off by Pep Guardiola from Manchester City, made a rare start on Saturday but admitted that he was 'struggling for positives' after the 2-0 defeat.
Barcelona are reportedly looking to seal a move for promising Brazilian youngster Arthur as the Catalan giants chase their third signing of the January window.
Marca report that Barcelona are closing in on the Gremio midfielder in a deal which would see the 21-year-old immediately loaned back to the Brazilian club before moving to the Nou Camp in 2019.
Gremio president Romildo Bolzan has insisted he would not sell Arthur for less than his release clause, which stands at £44million.
Barcelona have already signed Yerry Mina, from Brazilian side Palmeiras, and Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool this January transfer window.
ROBERT SUMMERSCALES: Roma chief executive Umberto Gandini has admitted that the club are 'evaluating' offers for Chelsea target Edin Dzeko.
The former Manchester City striker, 31, is wanted at Stamford Bridge as Blues boss Antonio Conte looks to provide more support and competition for Alvaro Morata.
Speaking after Roma lost 1-0 at home to Sampdoria on Sunday night, Gandini suggested that an agreement was possible before Wednesday's transfer deadline but not straightforward as it must satisfy both clubs, Dzeko and his representatives.
SIMON JONES: Manchester City are expected to pay Aymeric Laporte's release clause on Monday, with the Athletic Bilbao defender due to deposit the £57million with the Spanish Football Federation.
The defender's move to City is expected to be finalised by Tuesday, and he has undergone the first part of medical checks ahead of his transfer.
Laporte was left out of Bilbao's squad against Eibar on Friday evening, and said his farewells to teammates on Saturday, who signed shirts wishing him well in his next move.
SIMON JONES: Arsenal are close to finalising an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang after moving closer to the £60million asking price.
The 28-year-old's pending arrival means Arsenal will allow Olivier Giroud to move to Chelsea should their London neighbours meet the 31-year-old's £35m valuation.
Chelsea discussed Giroud over the weekend as they are struggling to strike agreement with Roma for Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri.
