Gameiro has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, but he has found game time hard to come by in La Liga.
Swansea have also been eyeing moves for West Ham pair Diafra Sakho and Andre Ayew, but again they face competition from other clubs around them in the table.
They also have an interest in Porto's Vincent Aboubakar, according to reports.

Former boss Paul Clement came close to signing the striker in the summer window, before instead switching his attention back to Wilfried Bony.
The south Wales side are currently rock bottom of the Premier League with just 17 points from their opening 23 matches.
They face a tough task to stay up, and have Liverpool and Arsenal in their next two league fixtures.
