Alexis Sanchez will be given the honour of wearing the fabled No 7 shirt at Manchester United if he decides his future lies at Old Trafford.
Arsenal's Chilean star looks set to decide between Manchester City and their rivals, and Jose Mourinho's side are looking to sweeten the deal.
United are already prepared to offer Sanchez £400,000 per week and according to Chilean news outlet Cooperativa, offer him the famous shirt too.
Alexis Sanchez has been offered the No 7 shirt at Manchester United if he joins
The No 7 has an historic and legendary lineage at the club with George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo all previous owners.
The shirt is currently vacant so the logical move would be to give it to the relentless forward should he join.
Pep Guardiola held crunch talks with City chiefs on Monday to plot the path forward and there is still a chance Sanchez will opt for United's fierce rivals.
Jose Mourinho wants to sign Sanchez and is willing to spend more than Manchester City
United's No 7 has adorned some legendary players over the years such as Eric Cantona
That said, City are refusing to surpass their £20million valuation of a player with just six months remaining on his contract.
United on the other hand would bid up to £35m, be willing to make Sanchez the highest paid player in the Premier League and add on a hefty agent fee.
Perhaps the offer of the iconic No 7 shirt will be a key detail in the battle to secure Sanchez's signature and his future is likely to be decided within the next 48 hours.
Sanchez is keen on a move this January rather than waiting until the summer to leave Arsenal
