Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba 'doesn't look fit', claims Old Trafford legend Paul Scholes: 'He is just strolling through games'

Manchester United icon Paul Scholes has claimed Paul Pogba has looked unfit since returning from suspension four games ago.

The £89million midfielder began the season in terrific form before picking up a hamstring injury in the 3-0 Champions League win over Basle back in September.

The Frenchman missed 12 games through injury, but soon found himself back on the sidelines after getting sent off against Arsenal at the start of December.

And decorated United legend Scholes believes Pogba has not hit his straps since returning to the fray in the shock defeat by Bristol City in the League Cup before Christmas.

Speaking on BT Sport, Scholes said: 'Where is the Paul Pogba we saw at Juventus? He was all over the pitch, he was battling, he was tackling, he was sprinting to people, he was scoring goals from 25 yards out.

'He is just strolling through games.'

United made Pogba their record signing when they brought him in from Juventus for £89m back in the summer of 2016.

But Scholes questioned whether Mourinho is deploying him in the correct position and believes that may be having a detrimental effect on the midfielder's match-winning qualities.

'Pogba doesn't look fit. I wonder whether he is training properly,' Scholes added.

'He does not look like a player who will win you games and that is what you pay £90m for.

'No-one in England should be getting near him, but he is being asked to do a role he is not comfortable in.

'You have to say the manager has to take responsibility for that. Is the manager sending them out not playing the way they want to play? I don't know.'
