Manchester United have already opened talks with Bordeaux over 20-year-old Brazilian star Malcom after his breakthrough season this campaign.
But Mauricio Pochettino's side have reportedly looked to steal a march on their rivals, by launching a £30.8m offer of their own for Malcom.

Brazilian outlet Esporte report that Spurs' bid has been rejected out of hand with Bordeaux reluctant to let Malcom leave in the January transfer window.
Sportsmail reported that United have held talks with Bordeaux over a potential January deal which would see Malcom loaned back to the French side until the end of the season.
Bordeaux ambitiously want more than £50m for Malcom, who United manager Jose Mourinho views as one of the best young prospects in Europe.

Malcom has scored seven goals in 18 Ligue 1 games this season for Bordeaux including a stunning effort against Dijon earlier this month.
Arsenal have also regularly sent scouts to check on his progress but have yet to lodge a formal offer for the forward.
Bordeaux have a gentleman’s agreement with the player that he can leave next summer and there is no release clause in his current contract.
Mourinho claimed on Friday he is unlikely to make any signings for United next month. However, Sportsmail can reveal he will have close to £100m to spend - but only if he can offload Henrikh Mkhitaryan for around £35m and Matteo Darmian for around £18m.
