LEICESTER

Warwick Kay (LCFC World)

Well that was a surprise! I doubt many people would have predicted that result after Leicester’s recent surge up the table.

Some poor decisions, passing and bad defending put us 0-2 down chasing the game and then to compound it all Ndidi gets sent off on his 21st birthday! Still eighth though — hopefully just a blip and we can get back on track.

CRYSTAL PALACE

Jay Crame (The Eagles Beak)

A quite superb away performance from the Eagles with a lot of firsts - first away win, first away goals and first goal of the season for Christian Benteke.

This was a real team performance with the midfield and back line putting in a great shift throughout allowing our attacking players the opportunity to keep the hosts on the back foot.

Wilf will be booed up and down the country but in this form, we urge the opposition fans to keep on doing it! He’s just too good for you!

We move out of the bottom three in style and the ever impress Roy Hodgson continues to go about his business quietly and impressively.

ARSENAL

Peter Wood (Le Grove)

Mesut Ozil was the difference in a controlled, but drab affair. Arsenal created 22 chances and only found the target 5 times, the German delivering the decisive volleyed goal. Over the last four Premier League games, it’s taken Arsenal an average of 29 chances to create a goal. An unimpressive statistic, which has contributed directly to our shoddy points total of late. Wenger needs to shake his team out of their sharpshooting coma if he wants the Christmas period to have his team within striking distance of the top four.

NEWCASTLE

Tom Bore (Read Newcastle)

Service as normal at Newcastle United. One point in the last nine fixtures and the prospect of fighting a relegation battle once again feels almost inevitable. With a potential takeover looming, Newcastle fans can only hope additional funds are made available for Rafa Benitez this January window.

Overall the performance against Arsenal was not too disappointing and, had it not been for a moment of brilliance from Mesut Ozil, Newcastle could have left with a point at least. There is very little Rafa can do to change the status quo at the moment due to the lack of other options available to him.

BRIGHTON

Simon Cox (Brighton Fans)

It feels like two points dropped but I am happy with the draw.

The game was better than the scoreline and we looked good first half. You cannot and must not miss a penalty at this level as it will probably be your only chance, and so it turned out. Burnley are ugly but organised and don’t attack often but when they did we needed Ryan to be at his best. A clean sheet is worth it’s weight so I’ll take that positive.

Star man: Mat Ryan

BURNLEY

Tony Scholes (Up The Clarets)

It might not have been the most enthralling of games but it was another clean sheet, another point and, after another great week for the club we are fifth in the Premier League.

We struggled to get into our game in the first half and might have gone behind had Glenn Murray not come close to finding the stand roof with a penalty, but it was much improved in the second half and in the last half hour it was the Clarets who looked the much more likely to break the deadlock.

CHELSEA

Andy Seaby (Chelsea Daft)

Chelsea picked up another important three points ahead of the League Cup quarter final in midweek with another Marcos Alonso free-kick.

Up to that point the visitors had frustrated Chelsea in the first half despite the Blues dominating the game.

Thibaut Courtois was called into action deep in the second half but we never really looked in trouble which is exactly what you want with another two games ahead of us this week. The only complaint being that we didn’t score more.

It’s job done this weekend because that’s all we can do to try and keep up with Pep Guardiola’s side at the moment.

Star man: Marcos Alonso

SOUTHAMPTON

Aidan Small (Fresh Saints)

On paper it may look to be a respectful defeat where Southampton battled to the end, but in truth, it’s yet another uninspiring performance that’s only further reinforced the worries of fans.

The bottom line is that we came into this game in the hope of snatching a plucky draw, and have once again come away with nothing. Zero.

We showed defensive organisation for the most part, but when you only create one clear-cut opportunity and fail to take it, you’re left wondering at the final whistle why we continue to show top six sides so much respect.

Oh well, at least it was better than Wednesday.

WATFORD

David Anderson (Golden Pages Fanzine)

Huddersfield fully deserved their win, but the manner of our capitulation was embarrassing. We lacked any sort of defence for their first two goals, and then our supposed ‘leader’ Troy Deeney takes out his frustration in the form of a reckless challenge to give us a mountain to climb with 10 men. Just as embarrassing was Jose Holebas bizarrely curling into a ball in the build up to their third. Then Abdoulaye Doucoure, who was otherwise outstanding and scored the goal of the game, stupidly conceded a penalty to ruin any chance of a comeback. What is happening at Watford?

HUDDERSFIELD

Harry Greenwood (Better Than Klopp)

Somewhat fittingly, as Town were back in the capital, like London buses, after 8 scoreless away games, Town managed FOUR goals today. Another brave, attacking performance following last weeks win against Brighton, resulted in another vital three points at Watford. Elias Kachunga gave Town the lead, although replays show he was offside, before Mooy capped a wonderful Town team move to double the advantage. Further second half goals secured the eagerly awaited away victory, despite both sides being reduced to 10 men. With a crucial run of fixtures on the horizon, this will be a massive boost to Wagner and co.

STOKE

Martin Smith (The Oatcake)

Stoke’s seemingly irresistible charge towards the relegation places gathered further momentum with yet another savage beating, this time against a West Ham team who surely couldn’t have been expecting such an easy win. It finished 3-0 but it could easily have been double that.

The first goal came after a shameful dive by Lanzini and changed the game but the way in which Mark Hughes’ crumbled late in the match was inexcusable.

A few Stoke players, especially Allen and Shaqiri, gave it all they had but we are a sorry looking team at the moment and Mark Hughes has lost the fans. Few can understand how he’s still hanging onto his job!?

Star man: Joe Allen

WEST HAM

Michael Oliver (Read West Ham)

You can’t really ask for much more in an away performance.

Both West Ham and Stoke knew this was a real opportunity to get points on the board and move up the table and it was the Hammers who took the game by the scruff of the neck.

They needed some luck to get in the lead as Lanzini appeared to buy a penalty which Noble slotted away midway through the first half.

With Stoke coming forward with gusto in the second half, Moyes’ side displayed the same defensive resilience they had displayed against Chelsea and Arsenal to keep them out. This time however, they had a tangible threat on the counter attack and it was Lanzini and Arnautovic that took advantage of the time and space they were afforded.

It ended 3-0 but could’ve been five or six as Moyes carries West Ham out of the relegation zone, finally. We’re trending upwards.

MAN CITY

Steven Allweis (View From A Blue)

I had a feeling before the game that Spurs might be the team to end our run ... I couldn’t have been more wrong! This was football from another level. The pace, pressing, movement and vision was just sensational. It could have easily been more humiliating than four goals. What a manager, what a team, what a joy to watch.

Star man: Kevin De Bruyne

TOTTENHAM

Barnaby Slater (The Football Republic)

You’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t if you’re Mauricio Pochettino right now. At Old Trafford he set up to sit deep and hit on the break and we lost 1-0. In that game Dele Alli should have scored for us just before Man Utd’s winner. At the Emirates he did the same and we were soundly beaten, much to Spurs fans’ ire. So he went to The Etihad to play Man City at their own game and to say we deserved to be beaten would be an understatement.

It could have been 10. Realistically, we’re just not good enough to fight fire with fire against the money men of Man City. But perhaps Pochettino, knowing our defence was depleted and our only available holding midfielder had to fill in there, thought that our best chance was to press high, surprise them, and try and score early and hold on. It didn’t work and we got a drubbing.

He can’t win whatever he does right now, but for me he’s still the best manager we’ve had since Sir Bill. So all those getting on his back, keep it shut.

WEST BROM

Alex Newton (Read West Brom)

A spirited performance that on another day could have been three points or even better. It’s one of the worst United performances I’ve ever seen at The Hawthorns. Albion finally look like they’re shaking Pulis’ ways off. Burke looks a real talent and Chris Brunt rolled back the years. If we play like that for the rest of the season we’ll be fine.

Star man: Oliver Burke

MAN UTD

Sam Peoples (The Peoples Person)

Manchester United’s complacency in the second half almost cost us two points but we pulled through, just.

We did the same thing away to Watford, too, and it’s a bad habit we need to get rid of.

Lukaku has scored two goals in two crucial games - the perfect response since the derby - and now Pogba is back. Game on.

BOURNEMOUTH

Peter Bell (Cherry Chimes)

Liverpool deserved their win as Bournemouth were not at the races. It was just a case of how many will Liverpool get by half time. Coutinho and Salah scored good individual goals, sandwiched by some more shambolic defending for Lovren’s goal. The tackling was non-existent and all hope vanished when Defoe’s shot unluckily hit the post and ran along the line. Firmino added more misery with the fourth. I’m not sure where Bournemouth go from here.

Star man: Charlie Daniels

LIVERPOOL

Dave Usher (The Liverpool Way)

Bournemouth tried to play football against Liverpool and that doesn’t usually end well. Just ask Maribor and Spartak. It was only four this time but it could easily have been a lot more. The first half performance was brilliant, while the second half was ultra professional and ensured there would be no repeat of last year’s collapse.

Mohamed Salah was electric again while Roberto Firmino was involved in everything. Liverpool didn’t even need Sadio Mane who was left on the bench and should be fresh and hungry to face Arsenal next week. No-one talks about rotation when you win.
