Arsene Wenger suspects his players are still suffering a hangover from their loss by Manchester United at the start of December as they drew a blank against West Ham.
Arsenal produced 33 shots against United but lost 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium earlier this month. At the London Stadium on Wednesday night, they produced 22 but were held to a goalless draw.
The Gunners are now seventh in the Premier League and Wenger said: 'Our performances are not reflected by results.
Arsenal are in the midst of a frustrating spell following their goalless draw at West Ham
'Against Man United, 33 shots and we didn't win. At Southampton (a 1-1 draw) it was similar to tonight.
'It is a bit frustrating but we need to keep confidence in our games. The patch will not last.
'The 33 shots against Man United and chances missed had a little impact. We must focus on quality and not the fact we are not ruthless. Periods like that, adjusting finishing is not right.'
Arsene Wenger's side stalemate at the Hammers followed a 1-1 draw with Southampton
On Alexis Sanchez, who has been out of form, Wenger continued: 'It is difficult to say. He tried. It was difficult because they defended very well. He is ambitious.
'In situations like this you do not focus on one player but the collective attitude of the team. We create chances and that will come back.
'I don't want to talk about (the title race). It's good for headlines. City are too far away to talk about title at the moment. We don't give up. Our job is to fight as long as we can and give our best.'
The Gunners' have created ample chances in previous fixtures but without success
Meanwhile, David Moyes has praised the organisation of his West Ham side – something that was lacking under Slaven Bilic.
'Four points against Chelsea and Arsenal, and we were unlucky against Manchester City, so there are good signs,' Moyes said.
'The mood is we're trying to change. We know we're at the wrong end of the table but we have to start somewhere and the results have given us a good platform.'
