Gareth Bale's agent has rubbished claims he is set for a move back to the Premier League and insists the star wants to retire at Real Madrid.

The Wales international has struggled with injury this season and has featured in just nine matches, not featuring for his club since the Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund at the end of September.Ā

Reports in Spain had suggested Real were ready to cut their losses on the 28-year-old, alerting the likes of Manchester United to a possible move.

However, Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, has spoken out to quash those rumours, insisting that he wants to see out his career in the Spanish capital. Ā

'He wants to play the rest of his life at Real Madrid,' Barnett toldĀ Fichajes.

'He loves Madrid, the city, life and he loves the club. Of course it hurts him when the people don't support him and they do with other players who aren't so good.Ā

'It's crazy, this happens only in Spain and I don't understand it, fans should understand this and know how good he is.'

Bale has been back in full training with Real as he looks to make his first appearance since overcoming calf and groin injuries.Ā

It had been suggested that his troubling injury record could persuade his club to sell him next summer, but Barnett attacked the stories as unfounded. Ā

'I think that those who write these stories should go back to school and learn what journalism should be like, it's not inventing stories, I do not want to get angry because I read invented stories,' he said.

'Some journalists in Spain write trash, they aren't based on football reasons and this is a mistake, they don't take the time to analyse what he has done. The fans should adore him.'
