Sean Dyche has admitted he needs to be careful what he wishes for, but firmly believes the methods he has used at Burnley will work elsewhere.

Dyche, who will mark five years in charge at Turf Moor against Newcastle United on Monday, has been strongly linked with the vacant Everton position.

And while he failed to rule anything in or out, he admitted: 'I want to progress. But be careful of what you wish for.'

Dyche, 46, who has denied any contact with Everton, insists his methods would work beyond Burnley.

He said: 'If you talk about the key core values, I would definitely transfer them because they are what I believe in beyond 4-3-3 and all that.

'Managing all the outside noise now — that is the challenge for the biggest managers — all the messages from family, friends, media, agents. Players are getting bombarded by more information from outside and you have to manage that.'

Could he deal with that? 'I am confident in myself,' Dyche said. 'But how do you know until you've done it?'

Regardless, Dyche added that money will not be a motivating factor when it comes to his next move in management.

'I am not looking for finance,' he said. 'I do not need money. That is a fantastic position to be in.'

He is also comfortable with the speculation and believes it will have no impact on his side. 'It is just news,' he said. 'It is the same as we do with players, you look at who is doing well and you say could we get them, could we not?'
