The Hammers boss reacted to the home league defeat to Brighton by making nine changes for the trip to Wembley – and his second-string responded by over-turning a 2-0 half-time deficit to win 3-2.
The win has provided a much-needed lift ahead of the visit to rock bottom Crystal Palace on Saturday.
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic admits the victory over Tottenham was a timely boost
And Bilic said: 'The guys who played against Spurs, because we wanted to put a strong team out, played because they deserved their chance.
'The situation is that most of the squad is fit and we have to consider a few things before we decide who is going to start against Palace.
'On one hand the played Spurs away did well, but you have the guys who played well against Brighton, and this game is less than 72 hours after game against Spurs, so it is difficult for the guy to repeat the same energy levels.
'With all that we have to put that into consideration. But whoever starts, the team is above every individual, and we have no time and no space for long faces.'

After the shock of losing 3-0 at home to Brighton, Bilic admits the defeat of Spurs was timely, but rejects talk of it being a turning point.
'You can't talk about that, but it was v important for us,' he said.
'For the next game its very important that we continue like that and use that kind of win and that kind of self confidence now when we approach the game tomorrow.
'But tomorrow is a new game and hopefully we are in a position to build on that. But we should use it only for the next game. It's a big game, a massive game, different competition but a game of massive importance, we have to show the character ad quality that we showed a couple of days ago.'
