Manchester City 'did not insert a buy-back option or sell-on clause' into deal that saw Jadon Sancho join Borussia Dortmund in £8m deadline-day move

  • Jadon Sancho swapped Manchester City for Borussia Dortmund on deadline day
  • A report claims City do not have a buy-back option for the teenage starlet
  • It also suggests the club will not benefit from any future sale of the player

Jadon Sancho's £8million switch to Borussia Dortmund did not include a buy-back option or sell-on clause, according to reports.

Sancho, the England Under 17 international, swapped the Etihad Stadium for the Bundesliga on deadline day, with Dortmund landing one of the Premier League's most highly-rated young players.

And The Sun claim the German side pulled off an impressive coup by coming to an agreement that will not see City due any money should they sell the youngster on in the future.

In a further blow to City, the report says, they will not have first right of refusal to re-sign Sancho.

The Sun quotes an unnamed source as saying: 'Nobody at the club is aware of anything in the deal. Dortmund got him on the cheap for the potential he has.

'We did not have much leverage as he was refusing to sign a new contract and had fallen out with people here.'

Sancho's switch to Dortmund came after a contract wrangle at the Etihad turned into an unsavoury dispute.

City manager Pep Guardiola claimed the player reneged on a £30,000-a-week professional contract prior to being cut from the pre-season tour of the United States after he went on strike.

Sancho, the player of the tournament at the Under 17 European Championship in the summer, scored three goals in the group stages of the Under 17 World Cup.

But he was recalled by Dortmund with the tournament still in progress, and could be set for a senior debut in the coming weeks.
