Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij has tried to end speculation surrounding his future as the Dutchman enters contract negotiations.
The 25-year-old's contract expires in June but came close to a move to Manchester United in 2014, then managed by Louis van Gaal, while a Liverpool side riddled with defensive problems have also shown an interest.
The centre back has become the heart of the Rome side's defence, appearing in all but one of Lazio's eight Serie A games this season, scoring twice
Stefan de Vrij has claimed he is happy at Lazio as the 25-year-old enters contract negotiations
Speaking after Saturday's 2-1 win against reigning champions Juventus, he insisted his future was with Lazio.
'Besides playing well as a team there are also a lot of friendships among us. This is a really nice thing,' de Vrij said, as reported by The Sun.
'I'm very happy to be here. We are talking to the club right now and I hope to find an agreement.'
The centre back was speaking after he helped his team-mates to a 2-1 win against Juventus
Lazio's defender is not the only Dutchman at the forefront of Premier League scouts' list, with Southampton want-away Virgil van Dijk's future still in the balance.
And as De Vrij closes in on long-term commitment in Rome, Van Dijk will yet again be high in demand after his failed Southampton exit during the summer.
'You never know what will happen. My intention is to grow and improve and make the best decision for my career,' De Vrij added.
And claimed he hopes an agreement can be reached with Lazio over his new contract
