Pep Guardiola believes his Manchester City team can go anywhere and win after their pivotal victory at reigning champions Chelsea.

City have a 100 per cent record of six wins out of six on the road this season, including the Champions League and Carabao Cup, but this victory at Stamford Bridge shows that Guardiola's faith in his team to win anywhere is not misplaced.

He said: 'It's so important to win at Stamford Bridge, to get the three points and they (Chelsea) are not able to win. We are trying at Manchester City to feel like a club, not just the players and team-mates and staff, but a club that are able to go wherever and play our game.

'Of course you have to adapt, and know the opponents have the same quality as ours, but to show the people at Stamford Bridge from the first minute that we have come to win, that is what I want to give to the club, and we did it today.

'Even last season when we came here we weren't able to win, but today we did and I'm so satisfied because we won in the way we tried from the beginning.'

Guardiola is fully aware that City's early form has to be maintained throughout the season if they are to win the title, and not fall away as they did at this point last year, when a run of 10 straight wins from the start of the season was followed by six matches without victory.

City have yet to face Manchester United or Tottenham, whom he described as the 'Harry Kane' team. 'Chelsea were unbeatable last season after September, we have United and the 'Harry Kane Team' scoring again two or three goals.

'Jose will always be tough as this is now a Jose Mourinho team, so aggressive and winning duels, quick on the counter-attack.

'It will be so tough but it is so important in the process that we can do it – we will go to these stadiums and try.'

City’s Fabian Delph added: ‘We knew we had lost the previous two games to Chelsea, so this win sends out a massive message.’

And the match-winner De Bruyne said: ‘We played tactically a great game. It’s a nice win because it’s difficult to win here. It ends a very nice month for us. It’s only the beginning but it is good to maintain the winning streak.’
