Vincent Kompany intends to quit international football after the World Cup. The Manchester City centre-back has missed the last four weeks after picking up a calf injury while playing for Belgium against Gibraltar.
Belgian boss Roberto Martinez has called him up again for internationals with Bosnia-Herzegovina and Cyprus despite the fact he has barely trained at City, a move that perplexed coach Pep Guardiola.
'He didn’t make one training session with us since one month ago, the Gibraltar game, said Guardiola. 'I spoke to Martinez. He told me he will go there to meet with the Belgium doctors but he is coming back. Of course he cannot play with Belgium.'

Belgium have already qualified for the finals in Russia and the 31-year-old Kompany said: 'I won't stop playing after the World Cup, but chances are I'll stop playing for the national team. They know that.
'If I have to make a decision for my body, I'll do it without a doubt. And I'll have a great national team career to look back on.
'I have done all I can for years to remain fit, and to always come back after injuries. I don't want to make things sound more heroic than they are, but any sportsman will confirm just how hard it is to do this.
'The more matches I play, the more I am away from home and the more I put my body under pressure, the less chance I have of continuing to play football in good health.'
