Winston Reid has re-opened the Sadio Mane red-card debate following his high-footed challenge on Steve Mounie... Jamie Carragher and Sam Allardyce fail to agree on the decision
- Winston Reid catches Steve Mounie with a high foot to the face on Monday night
- The referee Kevin Friend did not award a foul and Mounie was able to continue
- This incident follows similar challenges by Sadio Mane and Matt Ritchie
- Pundits Jamie Carragher and Sam Allardyce cannot agree on the decision
Winston Reid's challenge on Steve Mounie reopened the debate surrounding Sadio Mane's red card at the weekend.
The West Ham defender kicked the Huddersfield striker in the face whilst competing for the ball during the Premier League fixture on Monday night.
Despite the referee stopping play, Reid escaped a booking with the challenge not being deemed worthy of a free-kick.

The seemingly dangerous challenge re-opened the debate over Sadio Mane's red card
Mounie was able to continue playing after receiving minimal treatment but the decision to not award a foul brought the issue of serious foul play back into debate.
Many had criticised referee Mike Jones for not sending off Matt Ritchie at the weekend, whose challenge on Swansea's Alfie Mawson looked just as dangerous as Sadio Mane's the day before.
So it was left to guests of Sky Sports' Monday Night Football Jamie Carragher and Sam Allardyce to argue whether Reid's tackle can be placed in the same bracket.
Mane was sent off for his challenge on Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson at the weekend
Carragher was first to jump to Reid's defence: 'I wouldn't like to see this be a red card, we can't say every time someone puts a foot up near someone's head its a red card because of Mane'
'He isn't flying through the air like Karate Kid, like Mane and Ritchie were'
He concluded: 'If Mane hadn't have happened, would we be analysing this now?'.
Former West Ham manager Allardyce was less convinced but he could see a difference between all three incidents.
'He has caught him hasn't he,' he said.
'He has endangered the player, he could have done anything there, he could have caught him in the eye, he could have split his eye open.
'It's not intentional though, he lost his balance. This is a little different (to Mane and Ritchie's).'
Matt Ritchie received just a yellow card for this high-footed tackle on Swansea's Alfie Mawson
Many believe Ritchie's tackle was equally as dangerous as Mane's despite not injuring Mawson
