Watford manager Marco Silva has vented his frustrations at the club's dealings in the final week of the transfer window.

Winger Nordin Amrabat joined Spanish club Leganes on a season-long loan in the closing hours before the deadline, and against Silva's wishes.

Despite starting Watford's opening three games of the campaign - indeed the Morocco international had been included in Silva's 25-man Premier League squad - Amrabat followed goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon in a deadline-day move to Spain after the goalkeeper joined Deportivo La Coruna on loan.

'Now the market is closed, I don't want to talk much about it, but first, I'm clear with you, the last week was not the best for us in the market,' Silva said.

'It's different than what we tried to do, but different things happen. What we planned for last week and achieved is different. You want the best things, and you can't achieve that in the last week.

'That's not the best thing for me or Watford, but that's life. I expected something different, it's true.

'In some moments the coach can't control everything. Even though we lost one player after August 31, it was not in my plans to lose the player.'

Watford head to Southampton unbeaten in the Portuguese's opening league fixtures since he joined the Hertfordshire club.

And Silva could be boosted by the return of defenders Younes Kaboul and Daryl Janmaat - both injured in Watford's opening-day draw against Liverpool - for Saturday's trip to St Mary's Stadium.

Sebastian Prodl limped off in the first half of Austria's World Cup qualifier against Wales, and will be assessed on Friday.

Miguel Britos is suspended, though, after he was sent off following his rash tackle on Brighton's Anthony Knockaert in the goalless draw at Vicarage Road before the international break.

'It is impossible to happy with that sending-off,' Silva added on Thursday. 'I've spoken with him, of course.

'In that moment you don't need to speak too much as he knows what is in my mind. He's very upset with his action and it is clear to him my opinion.'
