Vincent Janssen move to Brighton is OFF

Finally some news on the late deals! With one looking dead in the water according to Sportsmail's Kieran Gill:

'Told Vincent Janssen turned Brighton down. Third choice at Spurs, then?'

00:57
But Swansea City have caved in again, as Bony has taken the No 2 shirt

A striker wearing No 2? What is this madness?! And his excuse isn't that much better, telling the Swansea site: 'it’s a special number for me. It’s the second time I am at the club, hence I wanted to wear number two, and I want to achieve more for the team.'

Total nonsense.

00:54

Well, the Premier League saved us on that occasion...

00:29

Chelsea have landed the signing of Davide Zappacosta from Torino in a £25million deal.

The right-back has signed a four-year contract worth around £45,000 a week after tax at Stamford Bridge.

JACK GAUGHAN and MIKE KEEGAN: Manchester City were left seething at Arsenal’s handling of Alexis Sanchez on Thursday night after a dramatic £60million deadline-day move fell flat.

Sanchez was sat inside Santiago’s Estadio Monumental David Arrellano ready to sign for Pep Guardiola’s team ahead of Chile’s World Cup qualifier against Paraguay on Thursday night.

The 28-year-old believed a deal was set before being denied by Arsenal’s failure to land Monaco winger Thomas Lemar for an eye-watering £92m.

23:00

22:39
Ross Barkley will reconsider his Everton future during January window

Everton's majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has claimed on Sky Sports regarding the Ross Barkley deal that: 'The two clubs (Everton and Chelsea) agreed a deal of £35million and personal terms had been agreed.

22:29
DONE DEAL: Celtic sign PSG youngster Odsonne Edouard on loan

22:26
DONE DEAL: MK Dons sign Scott Golbourne from Bristol City on loan

The 26-year-old arrives on deadline day for an undisclosed fee, though the club have confirmed it beats the £6million paid for Nikola Zigic in 2010.

Llorente may be in a Spurs shirt but...

ADAM CRAFTON: Llorente is still not a done deal - despite his brother's eagerness to post happy and smiley pictures on his Facebook page. The deal is not yet signed. But it will be.

21:07

Everton have signed Croatia international Nikola Vlasic from Hadjuk Split on a five-year deal worth an initial £8 million but could rise to £10m with add-ons.

Crystal Palace's interest for Alex Cairns looks to have come too late.

21:00
The transfer window will close in TWO hours...

Still plenty of deals to be confirmed - and that's before we factor in the two-hour post deadline window that enables clubs to complete a transfer via a 'deal sheet'. So loads of time remaining yet!

20:55

Aaron Ramsey has been forced to clarify comments he made that appeared to question Arsenal's transfer policy as the club shipped out several players on transfer deadline day.

While the Gunners are set to hold onto Alexis Sanchez despite two late bids from Manchester City, a lot of Arsenal fans have been left deflated by the number of Emirates Stadium exits.

Llorente to Tottenham from Swansea ready to be confirmed...

But there is a slight catch. It does still depend on Swansea City getting a replacement, and that replacement is Wilfried Bony.

Both moves look set to go ahead though with Bony finalising terms at the Liberty Stadium following a medical.

Evans and Chadli set to stay at West Brom as activity winds down a club

LAURIE WHITWELL: West Bromwich Albion’s training ground is winding down for the night.

Members of the club hierarchy are leaving and the lights are being switched off, which means Jonny Evans and Nacer Chadli are more than likely staying put. Obviously deals can be done remotely but nobody at West Brom is giving that impression.

Sunderland set to capture Callum McManaman from West Brom

LAURIE WHITWELL: Callum McManaman is poised to join Sunderland from West Bromwich Albion.

McManaman has travelled to Wearside for a medical and will become another of Simon Grayson’s deadline day signings alongside Marc Wilson and Jonny Williams.

Tony Pulis is happy to recoup a fee given the 26-year-old was not in his plans.

Birmingham reject £1m bid from Derby County for David Davis

LAURIE WHITWELL: Birmingham have rejected a £1m bid from Derby County for David Davis.

Gary Rowett is a fan of the attacking midfielder from his time in charge at St Andrew’s and is looking to add to his options.

The Derby manager believed he may be able to take advantage of Harry Redknapp signing Jason Lowe and Jota on deadline day but Birmingham have rejected the offer.

It also appears Redknapp's ambitious move for Alex Song has hit difficulties. Birmingham had agreed terms on a deal with Rubin Kazan but negotiations with Song appear to have stalled.

Adrien Silva flying to Leicester City to discuss personal terms

LAURIE WHITWELL: Adrien Silva has been given permission to leave the Portuguese national team camp and will fly to Leicester over a proposed move to the club.

This could mark a significant development in Chelsea’s proposed move for Danny Drinkwater, with Silva clearly seen as a replacement.

There is still work to do on both deals, with Silva rated at £22million by Sporting Lisbon and Chelsea not yet offering a price that would see Leicester sell.

Silva, an established Portugal international, very nearly joined Leicester last season before a proposed joint-deal with Islam Slimani collapsed.

Sporting Lisbon's Adrien Silva will discuss personal terms over a move to Leicester City

Rafa Benitez left frustrated as Newcastle miss out on deadline day

CRAIG HOPE: Newcastle will not be signing Southampton left-back Matt Targett or Chelsea's left-sided utility man Kenedy.

Thomas Lemar starts for France... which won't help any move to Liverpool

France take on Holland in a World Cup qualifier (which you can follow here) and Thomas Lemar starts for the hosts making it difficult for him to pen any deal within the next couple of hours to join Liverpool.

Kylian Mbappe doesn't start by the way.

Danny Drinkwater move to Chelsea may have moved a step closer

DOMINIC KING: There could be implications here for Leicester, Chelsea and Danny Drinkwater. Adrien Silva, the Sporting Lisbon midfielder, has been allowed to leave Portugal’s squad ahead of their World Cup games.

Silva has been lined up as Drinkwater’s replacement and if he arrives at The King Power Stadium then it could signal Drinkwater’s exit.

On another note with Leicester, the Football Association would be happy to let a player undergo a medical in Doetinchem this evening if a club can agree a fee. Bournemouth, of course, are still pushing for Demarai Gray.

19:00
The transfer window will close in FOUR hours

And kicking off this hour, we will have an update on Danny Drinkwater...

18:58

MIKE KEEGAN: Manchester City have admitted defeat in their chase for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.

Brighton launch bid to sign Florian Andone for £17.8m from Deportivo

ADAM CRAFTON: Brighton have gone back to Deportivo with a last ditch £17.8m bid for striker Florian Andone. With Lucas Perez heading to Spain this evening to conclude his loan deal from Arsenal, Deportivo are now considering the possibility of letting Andone go this summer.

Chris Hughton has already had one offer knocked back, worth around £14m. Deportivo's position is complicated as they only have the economic rights to 70 per cent of the player, with Cordoba retaining the remaining 30 per cent. With Depor keen to take around £15m for themselves, this means Brighton may have to stretch towards £20m to strike a deal. However, Deportivo's stance may now soften with Perez seemingly in the bag.

For this to happen, the Spanish club want to add another striker in addition to Perez as back-up options. Leonardo Pavoletti, Diego Rolan and Nicolas De Preville were all options but they have now joined different clubs.

18:45
MORE ON... Sakho as he takes step closer to joining Palace

DOMINIC KING: Mamadou Sakho was billed as “a marque signing” when Liverpool secured him from Paris Saint-Germain four years ago. Crystal Palace will be hoping to say the same thing now that the France defender has turned up in London.

Liverpool and Palace have agreed a £26million deal for Sakho, who spent last season on loan at Selhurst Park. He acquired a cult following at Anfield but, in truth, his performances never merited the praise he received.

This move represents excellent business for Liverpool, who have made an £8million profit on the 26-year-old.

Meanwhile, Bristol Rovers reject two bids of £500,000 for Billy Bodin

SAM MORSHEAD: Bristol Rovers have turned down two bids of £500,000 for Billy Bodin from Championship clubs on deadline day.

Sportsmail reported earlier this morning that the League One club were reluctant to sell their Wales Under 21 international despite fierce interest from the division above, and it now seems certain that Bodin will not leave the Memorial Stadium this summer.

Preston, Fulham and Hull were among the teams keen on the forward, whose contract will expire next year.

Rovers have remained resolute in their refusal to cash in, however, and it is now almost inevitable that Bodin will leave the Gas for free next summer.

Everton left in frustration on deadline day with Barkley future uncertain

DOMINIC KING: As stated earlier this morning, it has been a frustrating day for Everton.

They have so far been unable to get the striker they want – Lucas Perez, a player they wanted 12 months ago, seems destined to end up at Deportivo La Coruna – and they have not reignited their interest in Real Sociedad’s Willian Jose, whom they were pursuing in April.

Then there is the issue of Ross Barkley. His future remains up in the air, with Chelsea and Tottenham the clubs pursuing him.

But with less than five hours of the window remaining, it is still too early to say that he won’t be moving. Talks are continuing.

18:25
West Ham refuse to give up chase for Andre Gomes but Spurs lead way

OLIVER TODD: West Ham haven’t given up on Andre Gomes just yet, despite Tottenham being the front-runners for the Barcelona midfielder.

The Hammers’ stance all day has been that they don’t expect much activity today but there have been discussions for a loan over Gomes.

Spurs still look favourites, though. But a source at West Ham says the club are on ‘standby’ tonight to step in.

MORE ON... Watford's signing of Zeegelaar

KIERAN GILL: Watford have finally secured a left-back in Sporting Lisbon's Marvin Zeegelaar. The fee is £2.8m, with 30 per cent of any future tarnsfer.

I wrote earlier in the week that they were desperate for a left-back (after two red cards in five days in that position). Comes after they missed out on Kieran Gibbs.

Zeegelaar told Sky Sports: 'It's a good opportunity to be in the Premier League. I liked the deal. Finally I'm here and finally everything is done. I know Daryl Janmaat, I played against him in Holland, and Amrabat. I know them both. I can offer them going up and help the team to attack. I'm a wing-back that likes to go up front.'

Leicester City claim 'no bids' for Riyad Mahrez on deadline day

LAURIE WHITWELL: It has been a while since Riyad Mahrez was spotted anywhere, but Leicester are clear in stating no bids yet received for the Algerian yet on deadline day.

Man City left angry over Arsenal approach regarding Sanchez transfer

JACK GAUGHAN: Manchester City are furious at Arsenal over the way they've dealt with the Alexis Sanchez situation today.

Discussions have taken place between the two clubs all summer and City are baffled that no replacement was lined up for the Chilean, who they accepted a bid of up to £60million for earlier.

Sanchez is sat waiting to sign a deal right now but that is looking increasingly unlikely as the day goes on. It'd take the player to really kick up a fuss now for this to get done. Or for Arsenal to somehow land another target other than Thomas Lemar.

City also have the option of returning with an even bigger bid later this evening to force the issue.

18:00
There are FIVE hours to go until the transfer window closes...

It's all gone a little quiet on the 'done deals' front. But the embers of deadline day are still burning and will catch light again at some point this evening. We could be in for a long night.

Llorente, Lemar, Sanchez and Zappacosta are all transfers still in the balance - and that's before we remember there's always a late surprise or two.

IAN HERBERT: Sir Alex Ferguson once described doing business with Daniel Levy as the footballing equivalent to the Big Dipper.

‘You come off dizzy. You can’t discuss both sides of the issue with Daniel,’ he said. ‘It’s about him, and Tottenham, nothing more, which is no bad thing from his club’s perspective.’

‘Tell me about it,’ a collection of clubs will say as we reach the finale of a summer in which the Tottenham Hotspur chairman is set to bring in no less than £66.8m for five reserve players who’ve scraped together only 117 Premier League games between them.

Deportivo and Arsenal agree £4million loan fee for striker Lucas Perez

ADAM CRAFTON: Arsenal cast-off Lucas Perez is on the brink of signing a season-long loan deal with Deportivo La Coruna.

The two clubs are understood to have agreed in the past hour a £4m loan fee for the campaign.

Perez has turned down approaches from Newcastle and Sevilla today as he seeks to force a return to Deportivo over the line.

LATEST on Tottenham's move to hi-jack Chelsea deal for Llorente

ADAM CRAFTON: Tottenham are set to beat Chelsea to sign Fernando Llorente and poach the Swansea striker from under the noses of the Premier League champions.

Tottenham registered their interest on Wednesday evening and then made a shock bid just short of £15million on the morning of Deadline Day as Chelsea manager Antonio Conte faces missing out on yet another summer target.

Tottenham's bid was accepted by Swansea this morning and the offer is understood to be higher than Chelsea have previously been willing to go for the striker.

Llorente is undergoing medical tests at Tottenham this afternoon and will sign a two year deal with the option of a further one year extension.

It is a major departure from Tottenham's usual policy of recruiting young player's with resale value under chairman Daniel Levy and manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Yet Tottenham have come in late and will complete a deal as Llorente provides reliable backup for Harry Kane.

It is a major coup for Tottenham who have some long-awaited bragging rights after Chelsea pinched Willian in someone circumstances in 2013.

JOE BERNSTEIN: The domino effect of transfer deadline day...a bad injury prognosis for Benoit Poulain of Bruges has meant the Belgian club won't allow Stefano Denswil to join Brighton on loan as planned.

Wolves in talks over £10m PSV striker Jurgen Locadia

LAURIE WHITWELL: Wolves are working on a deal for PSV striker Jurgen Locadia, to add to their array of expensive attacking talent.

The cost would be around £10million – and how that balances out with Financial Fair Play is open to calculation – but the club are trying to get the deal done.

Nelson Oliveira, the Norwich forward, was also on Wolves’ shortlist but Norwich have already rejected a deadline day bid of £12m from Swansea for the Portuguese and that indicates too high a price to pay.

Oliveira is, unsurprisingly, represented by Gestifute and likewise it is to be assumed that any arrival by Locadia will be down to Jorge Mendes.

The Catalan club remain confident that they will get Coutinho before the transfer window shuts in Spain tomorrow but are still anxiously waiting for Liverpool to get all their business done today to allow the deal to happen.

LATEST on Llorente to Spurs

Adam Crafton: Tottenham are set to beat Chelsea to sign Fernando Llorente and poach the Swansea striker from under the noses of the Premier League Champions.

Tottenham registered their interest on Wednesday evening and then made a shock bid just short of £15m on the morning of Deadline Day as Chelsea manager Antonio Conte faces missing out on yet another summer target.

For Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, it is the latest hammer blow to his transfer ambitions.

Conte, who has already seen moves for Romelu Lukaku, Danilo, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain hijacked this summer by Premier League rivals, will be furious the Chelsea board have failed to sign Llorente.

He said on Friday it would be 'impossible' to challenge in four competitions with '11 to 13 players', in a clear message to the hierarchy that recruitments are needed.

Llorente has a strong relationship with Antonio Conte after working under him at Juventus and the 32-year-old is also close to new forward Alvaro Morata. The Italian wanted Llorente in January but the club didn't follow through with the deal.

In the mixed zone at Stamford Bridge at the end of February, Conte and Llorente embraced and were in deep discussions after the Spaniard scored for Swansea in a 3-1 Chelsea win.

Conte has been clear since the start of summer that he would like to add Llorente to his squad but Chelsea have failed to pull off the move and after missing out on prime target Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, the manager is licking his wounds once more.

The youngster is attracting interest from Hull, where he would go on loan.

15:03

DONE DEAL Origi to spend season at Wolfsburg

Dominic King: Confirmation that Divock Origi has joined Wolfsburg on a season-long loan.

It became evident earlier this summer that Origi would struggle to get the starting opportunities he craved and a move is in his best interests.

Liverpool have received a £6million loan fee from Wolfsburg. Origi had been linked with Monaco, when it was suggested he could form part of a possible deal for Thomas Lemar and Tottenham but Liverpool were not keen on doing business with another Premier League rivals.

BREAKING Palace agreed £18m deal for Man City's Mangala

Matt Lawton: Crystal Palace appear to have secured the services of Eliaquim Mangala after agreeing terms with both Manchester City and the player.

Palace have agreed to pay £18m plus a further £5m based on appearances and have met the central defender’s wage demands of approaching £120,000 a week, which in the end proved too rich for West Bromwich Albion.

West Brom wanted Mangala before agreeing to let Jonny Evans move in the opposite direction but Palace’s capture of the player now puts a return to Manchester in jeopardy for the Northern Ireland international.

Unless, that is, manager Tony Pulis can now find a suitable replacement for Evans before the transfer window closes.

14:23
LATEST from Newcastle United

Craig Hope: Newcastle remain open to the idea of selling Dwight Gayle, but that is 100-per-cent dependent on signing a replacement, meaning last season's top scorer is highly likely to stay at St James' Park.

The Magpies are waiting on a reply from Chelsea with regards to Brazilian utility man Kenedy. That loan deal is in place but Chelsea want to be certain they have sufficient cover before allowing him to leave.

Goalkeeper Tim Krul is heading to Brighton on loan. With his contract up at the end of the season - Rafa Benitez was miffed he got an extension last summer when he wasn't in his plans - the Holland international has now played his last game for the club he joined in 2005.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jack Colback does not want to leave the North East, despite knowing he will be left out of Benitez's 25-man squad and made to train with the Under-23s. He looks set to stay on Tyneside.

Everton's striker search goes on

Dominic King: A frustrating day so far for Everton, with the club searching for a striker.

Michy Batshuayi has been linked with a loan move from Chelsea – something that was tied in with Ross Barkley going the other way – but officials at Goodison Park insist that is not happening.

It was reported also that Thomas Vermaelen would join them on a season long-loan to provide the left-sided central defensive cover that Ronald Koeman wants but, again, the club said “no” and Barcelona are adamant that he stays.

Everton are actively working on other targets and they are no strangers to pulling off deals in the final minutes. They will be active for the remainder of the day.

13:53
LATEST on Diego Costa

Adam Crafton: Riyad Mahrez dashing from one continent to another, Manchester City flying into Chile, Fernando Llorente driving down the M25.... and Diego Costa is still chilling with his family back in Brazil.

The striker remains tucked away in his homeland while Atletico Madrid continue talks with Chelsea. Both ideally want a deal done by tomorrow night.

But Costa is not yet bound for Europe....

13:49

Just hearing from Sami Mokbel that Arsenal have dramatically stepped up their offer for Thomas Lemar of Monaco by tabling an offer in the region of £90m.

Gomes keen on idea of West Ham move

Dominic King: So it seems that Andre Gomes is leaning towards joining West Ham at the moment. He is close friends with Jose Fonte from the Portugal squad and likes the idea of joining up with him.

Tottenham, however, are pushing hard, with Mauricio Pochettino eager to add the midfielder, who moved to Barcelona from Valencia 12 months ago. There is, though, a significant caveat.

Barcelona are unwilling to let him leave at this given moment for the simple reason they have not been able to find a replacement. There is still plenty of mileage in this particular story before the deadline at 11pm.

Laurie Whitwell: The Where’s Wally hunt for Riyad Mahrez has seen social media locate the Algerian in Barcelona.

Karnezis is latest Watford arrival

Watford have announced the signing of Greece goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis on a season-long loan from Serie A side Udinese.

The 32-year-old will provide competition for Heurelho Gomes for the starting spot as goalkeeper.

Karnezis is the Hornets' 11th signing of the summer transfer window.

A statement on the club's official website said: 'Watford FC is delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis on a season-long loan from Udinese.

'The experienced Greece cap will join up with Marco Silva's squad on his return from international duty, providing competition for the number one jersey.

The 23-year-old has also been the subject of interest from Burnley and Huddersfield in recent weeks with Celtic valuing him at £9million.

Leicester have had bids for Callum Chambers, Jonny Evans and Mamadou Sakho rejected this week while Palace have also seen bids for Sakho rebuffed and are waiting on Manchester City's Eliaquim Mangala.

Brighton pull plug on Denswil loan after Brugge injury

Kieran Gill: Brighton really have had some rotten luck in this window.

After missing out on the £10m signing of Raphael Dwamena due to a failed medical... they've now missed out on Stefano Denswil on a season-long loan.

Club Brugge have pulled the plug because of an injury to Benoit Poulain, which risks leaving them short of central defenders.

13:35
Sancho set for Dortmund

Jack Gaughan: Jadon Sancho is headed for Borussia Dortmund. City have agreed a fee this afternoon and the 17-year-old is on his way for a medical.

It's thought that'll be above FIFA's £190,000 compensation amount. Sportsmail revealed showdown talks with the agent yesterday and this is a real blow for City to lose him.

Not an awful lot they could do by the sound of it.

13:26
Palace confident Niasse will join

Joe Bernstein: Crystal Palace are confident they will complete the £7million signing of Everton striker Oumar Niasse after agreeing terms with the Merseyside club.

Although Niasse's goal record in England of five in 26 games for Everton and Hull hardly makes him prolific, Palace believe his willingness to run and upset defenders will help Christian Benteke in particular get more space in which to score goals.

He almost did a rescue job on loan at Hull last season before running out of steam and failing to score in his last seven games.

Rather different priorities for Sakho

Kieran Gill: Remarkable story.

Diafra Sakho is set to land in the UK shortly after 2pm and he is expected to then head to Chelmsford Races because one of his advisers (Mark McKay) has a horse running (Siege of Boston) in the 3.20pm.

A non-runner in that same race is called... The Happy Hammer.

Sky are claiming Sakho and McKay will then head to West Ham for talks. Good luck with that, because David Sullivan is currently on holiday in Marbella, so he's nowhere near London.

Sullivan acts as the club's director of football and handles those talks. West Ham maintain Sakho is not for sale.

Arsenal's Campbell in talks with Betis

Simon Jones: Arsenal striker Joel Campbell is in talks over a deal to join Real Betis.

13:18

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been pictured in a Liverpool shirt for the first time after completing a £35million from Arsenal.

The 24-year-old underwent a medical and agreed a five-year deal worth £120,000 a week to join Jurgen Klopp's side on Wednesday.

Liverpool then confirmed his arrival from the north London outfit via their official Twitter account, posting a simple 'welcome' message along with his squad photo.

LATEST on Alexis Sanchez to Man City

Mike Keegan: Sources at City are confident they will sign Alexis Sanchez - as long as Arsenal can find a replacement.

Sportsmail understands that the Chilean has wanted to move to the Etihad since the start of the summer and his feelings are long since known and reciprocated in Manchester.

There is some surprise that the move has not gone through already.

The Gunners have been stalling in a bid to drive up the price and allow them time to find a replacement.

The issue now, is whether they can find that replacement before the end of the day.

One, well-placed source said: 'It's been a summer-long game of chess and it's now Arsenal's move.'

Success an option for Brighton

Oliver Todd: Brighton are very much in the market for a striker today, with Isaac Success the latest one to watch.

We’ve already heard the names of Moussa Marega and Oumar Niasse mentioned but it seems Watford’s Success is another option.

The Nigerian forward was a club-record signing at Vicarage Road last summer but after just two Premier League starts the arrivals of Richarlison and Andre Gray have pushed him down the pecking order.

Watford see Success, 21, as a future prospect and are not believed to be willing to entertain a permanent move. Hull City are also interested.

West Ham annoyed with Sakho

Kieran Gill: West Ham aren't happy with Diafra Sakho after his shenanigans.

Sakho flew to France for a medical with Rennes yesterday in the belief he had the club's permission. He didn't and he'll return to the UK this afternoon.

And now, he's told Sky Sports: 'I have had a frustrating time for the past couple of seasons. I want a fresh start and I want to get back to playing regular football.'

The board are maintaining their not-for-sale stance.

Also hearing murmurs of West Ham showing an interest in Jack Wilshere. Not close at the moment but one to keep an eye on. Loan likeliest option if it comes to it.

Swansea fear Wilfried Bony will go to Verona and have bid for Nelson Oliveira at Norwich City too.

Andone could be beyond Brighton's reach

Adam Crafton: Brighton will have to pay in excess of £20m to sign Deportivo striker Florin Andone.

Deportivo only want to do business if they can seal the deal for Arsenal's Lucas Perez but could be tempted if Brighton return with a bid today.

Chris Hughton has already had one offer knocked back, worth around £14m. Deportivo's position is complicated as they only have the economic rights to 70% of the player, with Córdoba retaining the remaining 30%.

With Depor keen to take around £15 for themselves, this means Brighton will have to stretch towards £20m to strike a deal.

11:55
Ipswich want Goldson

Joe Bernstein: Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy is trying to build on a fine start to the season by bringing in Brighton central defender Connor Goldson.

Goldson, 24, is looking to rebuild his career after missing the second half of last season because of heart surgery that followed the discovery of a swollen aorta.

Goldson has subsequently been given the all-clear but is unlikely to get much Premier League time with Chris Hughton signing several new players after promotion.

11:47
Song set for Birmingham

EXCLUSIVE by Laurie Whitwell: Harry Redknapp is set to produce another deadline day signing by bringing Alex Song to Birmingham.

Sportsmail understands a deal has been agreed for the former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder.

Song has travelled to the midlands to complete a move from Rubin Kazan.

Birmingham have already signed Jason Lowe from Blackburn Rovers and Jota from Brentford but Redknapp wants to strengthen his squad further.

Song spent the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons on loan at West Ham United from Barcelona and Redknapp believes he can perform well in the Championship.

The 29-year-old spent six years at Arsenal before moving to the Nou Camp in 2012 for £15million and winning La Liga in his first season. He has 49 Cameroon caps.

Winnall seeks loan move

Jack Gaughan: Think Sam Winnall will look for a loan away from Sheffield Wednesday today. Moved for big money from Barnsley in January but it hasn't quite worked out for him at Hillsborough so far.

11:45
Sessegnon latest

Kieran Gill: Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon – the well-reported Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham target – is not away on international duty with England... but that's because the Championship club asked the FA not to call him up.

Sessegnon had a busy summer – winning the Euro U19 Championship – and so Fulham felt he deserved a rest after arriving back late with them. The FA concurred.

So no, he has not been left at home to sort out his immediate future or undergo a medical. He'll be staying with Fulham.

11:41
BREAKING: Llorente on his way to join Spurs

Riath Al-Samarrai: I'm told Llorente is currently on the road to London to join Spurs. It's largely a done deal, all points agreed, but Swansea could pull out if Bony doesn't join. Chelsea miss out.

11:37
Will Chelsea bid again for Mahrez?

Laurie Whitwell: There are strong rumblings around Chelsea making a transfer deadline day move for Riyad Mahrez. But Leicester adamant no fresh approaches. Yet.

11:34
Newcastle sticking to their guns over Gayle

Kieran Gill: Fulham are very much active and want to make two signings today.

Dwight Gayle is highly unlikely to be one of them. Newcastle's £20m asking price is a problem and I'm told that deal is all but dead.

11:33
Could Newcastle snatch Perez?

Adam Crafton: Lucas Perez situation becoming more complicated. The player wants to join Deportivo but the Spanish club can't afford to buy him and therefore a loan and £4m loan fee is likely.

Newcastle are also interested but they are wary the player wants to return to Spain. Everton may take another look as the day goes on too. The player also knows the story of Albert Luque, a Deportivo hero who turned to zero at Newcastle.

Some sources in northern Spain are even suggesting Lucas will threaten to stay at Arsenal without paying (leaving Arsenal with the salary burden) rather than go elsewhere in England. That, of course, may be a bluff to try and force through his return to Spain.

11:29
Bodin bound for Preston?

Mike Keegan: Bristol Rovers striker Billy Bodin remains a deadline day target for Preston North End.

The prolific forward is out of contract at the end of the season and Sportsmail understands discussions are ongoing, with a fee of around £250,000 to £300,000 mentioned.

Cardiff are also an interested party. Sources say Neil Warnock is a ‘very busy man’ today.

11:27
BREAKING Chelsea make third bid of £30m for Drinkwater

Laurie Whitwell: Chelsea have made a third bid worth around £30m for Danny Drinkwater.

But the offer falls well short of Leicester’s £40m valuation of the midfielder.

Leicester have already rejected a £23m bid by Antonio Conte’s side and this new attempt is not thought to be a huge advance.

Drinkwater is keen to join the reigning Premier League champions and handed in a transfer request on Monday in an effort to force the move.

But Leicester are under no pressure to sell with Drinkwater’s contract not running out until 2021.

Conte is desperate for reinforcements and sees the 27-year-old as providing excellent competition in midfield.

11:22
Cheque book closed at West Ham

Kieran Gill: Sorry to burst any bubbles West Ham fans, but I'm told it's looking like there will be no business done today. Let's hope that changes.

Interest in United striker Wilson

Simon Jones: Manchester United have rejected a number of loan proposals fro striker James Wilson.

The 21-year-old was on loan at Derby County last season and suffered a cruciate ligament injury.

However, he has been back training and United want to keep an eye on his recovery until January.

11:16
Everton enquire about Batshuayi

Simon Jones: Everton have asked about Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi but he is unlikely to leave if Tottenham beat Chelsea to Fernando Llorente.

Everton have also enquired about Arsenal's Lucas Perez who they tried to sign from Deportivo last year. Newcastle United remain in the frame too for the Spaniard

11:07
Sanchez talks between Arsenal and Man City ON

Sami Mokbel: Man City have re-opened the lines of communication with Arsenal this morning as they plot a £60m-plus offer for Alexis Sanchez.

City are waiting on Arsenal finding a replacement for Sanchez before submitting their next offer.

11:06
Arsenal place £28m asking price on Chambers

Laurie Whitwell: Small add to the Calum Chambers developments, Arsenal are demanding £28million for the defender. A sign of the ever-inflating market.

Chambers had a good season on loan for Middlesbrough but has not established himself in the Arsenal team since moving from Southampton for £16m in 2014.

Leicester do want a new centre-back with Wes Morgan and Robert Huth approaching their mid-thirties and Yohan Benalouane well down Craig Shakespeare’s pecking order.

But the club are unlikely to return now for the 22-year-old after receiving Arsenal’s response. Leicester have also been unsuccessful with moves for Jonny Evans and Ben Gibson.

QPR in pursuit of further signings

Joe Bernstein: Championship club QPR are working hard at bringing in a couple more players having already signed winger David Wheeler of Exeter City today.

Hoops boss Ian Holloway has been linked with Blackpool's Bright Osayi-Samuel, Blackburn forward Danny Graham and striker Saman Ghoddos from Ostersund in the Swedish league.

Rangers will also allow some of their younger players out on loan to gain experience

Huddersfield striker Nahki Wells is expected for a medical at Burnley ahead of his £5m signing. Wells has been recovering from ankle surgery

Crystal Palace are heading off competition from Brighton for Everton striker Oumar Niasse who was on loan at Hull City last season.

Rangers have asked about Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack who is yet to agree a loan to Sunderland.

10:53

West Brom are discussing a deal for Watford goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon.

10:48

Birmingham have signed Jason Lowe, the 25-year-old midfielder, from Blackburn Rovers.

Porto reject £9m Brighton bid for Marega

Simon Jones: Brighton have had a £9million bid for Moussa Marega at Porto rejected.

The 26-year-old Mali international striker scored 13 goals on loan at Vitoria Guimaraes last season.

Brighton have also asked about 19-year-old Portuguese winger Dany Mota at at Virtus Entella.

Mota was born in Luxembourg and can play on either flank.

It also looks as though Connor Goldson is on his way to Ipswich on loan.

10:38
QPR complete signing of Exeter's Wheeler

Sam Morshead: QPR have signed Exeter City forward David Wheeler.

Wheeler, who scored 39 times for the Grecians following his arrival from Lewes in 2013, has penned a three-year deal at Loftus Road.

Exeter are making a happy habit of developing players and selling them on for good money.

10:36
BREAKING Arsenal trying to sign Draxler

Sami Mokbel: Arsenal are trying to land Julian Draxler from PSG. Gunners officials are working on a deal. IF they can get him; Alexis Sanchez will take a step closer to Man City.

10:32
Brighton poised to sign Schelotto

Simon Jones: As we covered earlier, Brighton are close to signing Sporting Lisbon right-back Ezequiel Schelotto in a £2.5million deal.

The 28-year-old travelled to England last night and is due to have his medical this morning. Born in Argentina, Schelotto has one cap for Italy and previously played for Inter Milan

10:32
One in, one out at The Hawthorns

Laurie Whitwell: Small update on West Bromwich Albion today. Tony Pulis can only spend money if either Jonny Evans or Nacer Chadli is sold.

The Vincent Janssen situation should be viewed in that context. As yet, no fresh bids have come in for Evans or Chadli. #dominoes

10:31
Perez loan to Deportivo close

Adam Crafton: Lucas Perez's loan move to Deportivo La Coruna continues to inch over the line. Discussions are ongoing this morning. Remember they have today and tomorrow to seal the deal as the Spanish window extends one day further.

The player remains confident he will return to the Spanish club - where Arsenal bought him from for £17.1m last summer. Arsenal wanted a deal in excess of £13m - instead they will likely make do with a modest loan fee around £4m.

10:30
Update from Spain

Pete Jenson: To quote Will Smith: ‘No Plan B, it distracts from Plan A’. It doesn’t really work during the transfer window, however.

Barcelona are changing their plan B with every day that passes. On Tuesday it was Naby Keïta; that lasted a couple of hours until Liverpool announced his signing.

Yesterday it was another Liverpool target Thomas Lemar. Today it’s Riyad Mahrez. There will be no plan B until they are 100 per cent sure they cannot get Coutinho.

They still believe Liverpool will complete their business today and sell them Coutinho tomorrow when the Spanish window is still open until midnight.

Elsewhere Real Madrid briefing that there will be no ins or outs and Atletico Madrid confident that they wont lose anyone.

Moya bid turned down and the Oblak to PSG scare unlikely to resurface. They are also sure they will get Costa and there will be no five month loan deal before so they can deal with it after the window shuts.

Shawcross signs new deal at Stoke

Joe Bernstein: Some good news for Stoke City fans even though not directly transfer-related, captain Ryan Shawcross has agreed a new long-term contract to stay at the bet365 Stadium.

There were concerns Shawcross would move on given Stoke signed Bruno Indi Martins, Kevin Wimmer and Kurt Zouma (loan) in the window but it was never the club's intention to force him out, and now Shawcross will be part of the club's long-term future.

10:09
Dortmund keen on City kid Sancho

Simon Jones: Borussia Dortmund are discussing a deal for Manchester City teenager Jadon Sancho.

Sportsmail revealed Dortmund's interest in July and the Bundesliga club are pressing to sign the talented 17-year-old who has failed to show at training in recent weeks after growing frustrated at City.

10:05
Mustafi going nowhere

Kieran Gill: Sounding like Shkodran Mustafi will be staying put at Arsenal, despite interest from Inter Milan.

10:04
Swindon poised to sign Charles-Cook

Sam Morshead: Swindon are set to complete the loan signing of Coventry goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook on deadline day.

Charles-Cook played 22 times for the Sky Blues last season but is now third-choice at the Ricoh Arena and will join the Robins until the end of the campaign.

His arrival at the County Ground will pave the way for Swindon’s teenage keeper Will Henry to head out on loan.

10:03
No permanent option for Bojan

Adam Crafton: Intriguingly, Stoke have not granted Spanish side Alaves an option to buy Bojan Krkic at the end of his loan deal.

It is a season long contract with the 27-year-old Catalan determined to play regular football after struggling for starts at Stoke over the past year.

10:01
Leeds confirm Cibicki signing

Leeds have signed forward Pawel Cibicki from Malmo for an undisclosed fee.

The Sweden Under-21 international has put pen to paper on a four-year deal to become Leeds' 15th summer signing.

"Leeds United are delighted to confirm the signing of Pawel Cibicki from Swedish side Malmo FF," Leeds announced on their official website.

"The 23-year-old forward, who can also operate on the wing, has signed a four-year deal at the club."

Cibicki, whose parents were both born in Poland, progressed through Malmo's youth system and made his senior debut in 2013.

He scored 12 goals in a total of 57 appearances for Malmo and as well as his 10 appearances for Sweden Under-21s, has also represented Poland at youth level.

Leeds are also expected to officially confirm the signing of Hamburg striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga on a season-long loan before Thursday's transfer deadline.

Palace still in pursuit of Sakho

Oliver Todd: Crystal Palace still believe they can get a deal for Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho over the line today.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to get the centre back out and Palace and Liverpool aren’t too far off each other on a valuation north of £25million, although add-ons are still being discussed.

Sakho, 27, is thought to be open to a return to Selhurst Park after his successful loan spell in the second half of last season.

West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City have shown rival interest.

09:59
UPDATE: Tottenham bid for Llorente accepted

Adam Crafton: Tottenham bid for Llorente accepted. He will continue discussions with his brother who is his agent this morning before deciding.

Tottenham have also received a £23m bid from West Brom for Vincent Janssen.

The Dutch striker scored 6 goals in a desperate first season at White Hart Lane after signing in a £17m deal from AZ Alkmaar last summer.

He struggled for opportunities up against the form of Dele Alli and Harry Kane but also seemed to lack confidence when he was handed a chance to shine.

Tottenham have stolen a march on Chelsea by having a bid accepted for Swansea's Fernando Llorente and this deal may be contingent on the Spanish forward heading to north London.

In turn, Swansea are keen to complete the signing of Wilfried Bony from Manchester City before ratifying the Llorente transfer.

09:56
Denayer set for Galatasaray loan

Manchester City's Jason Denayer has arrived in Istanbul to complete a loan move to Galatasaray. The 22-year-old Belgian centre-back had been wanted by Celtic and Brighton.

Jack Gaughan: Denayer has completed his season-long loan switch to Galatasaray. His fourth consecutive loan spell away from City!

09:53
Baggies would replace Evans with Gibson

Craig Hope: Were Jonny Evans to move to Manchester City then Middlesbrough's Ben Gibson would be a target as a replacement for West Brom.

Boro chairman Steve Gibson, however, is adamant that his nephew is going nowhere. We reported in May that he would not be sold this summer and that looks like being the case.

Jack Gaughan: Jonny Evans has arrived at Manchester Airport with the rest of the Northern Ireland squad flying out to San Marino.

09:43
PSG forward Edouard going to Celtic on loan

Simon Jones: Paris Saint-Germain striker Odsonne Edouard is having a medical at Celtic.

The 19-year old forward is expected to finalise a loan deal to become Brendan Rodgers' second signing of the week following Patrick Roberts' return to the club.

09:42
Saints '99.9 per cent' sure Van Dijk is staying

Sami Mokbel: Famous last words but Southampton '99.9 percent' certain of keeping Virgil van Dijk. Will have to be a 'ridiculous' offer for them to even consider letting him go.

09:42
UPDATE: Llorente set to leave Swansea... as Sanches comes in

Adam Crafton: Swansea are not yet standing up news that a bid for Llorente has been accepted. However, they do concede that there is big interest from Tottenham and Chelsea and that the Spaniard is likely to leave the club today.

All aspects of Swansea's extraordinary loan move for Renato Sanches from Bayern Munich are agreed. The only thing holding up an announcement is the finalisation of the paperwork.

Swansea will not be signing Nelson Oliveira from Norwich today. However, discussions continue for Wilfried Bony from Manchester City and the club remain hopeful.

09:41
Tottenham still keen on £30m deal for Barkley

Ian Ladyman: Tottenham have not yet extinguished their interest in Ross Barkley and are willing to do a deal with Everton for about £30m.

Interestingly, it has not been Mauricio Pochettino who has been driving the club’s interest but his number two Jesus Perez.

Spurs are also trying to get young Marcus Edwards out on loan to the Championship or lower.

Pochettino likes the 18-year-old midfielder and he has been training with the first team but believes there are some faults that need ironing out.

09:40

Willock sent out on loan to Utrecht

Manchester United youngster Matty Willock is going Dutch. He's joined Utrecht on a season-long loan.

09:30
UPDATE: Spurs enter the mix for Llorente

Adam Crafton: Fernando Llorente's future is on a complete knife edge this morning.

Everyone has been thrown by Tottenham catapulting themselves into the mix - including Llorente. It is a 50/50 at this stage and the player will make the final decision.

He will hold talks with his brother, who is his agent, this morning. Llorente still has a strong relationship with Antonio Conte. The Italian wanted him in January but the club didn't follow through with the deal.

Then, I can recall being in the mixed zone at Stamford Bridge at the end of February after Llorente scored for Swansea as Chelsea emerged as 3-1 winners.

Conte and Llorente embraced and were in deep discussions in the interview area.

Yet Tottenham have come in late - reports in Spain suggest they have offered more money to the striker - and Llorente is tempted.

This could be Lukaku all over again - Chelsea being a touch complacent, assuming a player only has eyes for them, only to be gazumped at the last minute.

Conte will be furious if they now lose Llorente.

09:28
Norwich reject Swansea's £12m bid for Oliveira

Laurie Whitwell: Norwich City have rejected Swansea's £12million bid for striker Nelson Oliveira. The 26-year-old experienced a fractious start to his relationship with manager Daniel Farke but Norwich value the Portuguese highly.

09:23
Two out the door at Stoke

Joe Bernstein: Stoke City will soon be able to confirm the loan departures of midfielder Giannelli Imbula (Toulouse) and Bojan (Alaves) as both deals have now been agreed between all parties.

But a move for Manchester City's Fabian Delph now looks dead with the player blowing hot and cold over joining Mark Hughes in the Potteries.

09:23
Mendy on his way out of Leicester?

Laurie Whitwell: One player who is likely to leave Leicester today would be Nempalys Mendy. The French midfielder has experienced an awful time since joining last summer in what was then a club record £13million transfer.

He has only played ten games for Leicester due to troubling ankle injuries. The 25-year-old is close to moving back to Nice, where he spent three seasons up to 2016, in a campaign-long loan deal.

09:21
News from the Championship

Simon Jones: As well as signing Diego Jota and Harlee Dean from Brentford, BIRMINGHAM CITY are discussing a deal for 25-year-old Brentford right back Maxime Colin.

FULHAM are signing Wolves winger Jordan Graham on loan. The 22-year-old also had interest from Leicester City and Hull City.

NORWICH CITY are allowing defender Harry Toffolo to join Doncaster Rovers on a season loan.

The 22-year-old former England U20 international left-back, who won the FA Youth Cup with Norwich in 2013, has had previous loan spells at Swindon, Rotherham, Peterborough and Scunthorpe.

Maxime Colin (left) could be on his way to Birmingham
09:13
Will Brighton go after Gayle?

Kieran Gill: What will Sky Sports do at 11pm with no Big Ben?! Maybe get that girl who did an impression of it on This Morning?

Anyway, Brighton are searching for a striker. I'm surprised they aren't in the mix for Newcastle's Dwight Gayle, who is highly rated by Chris Hughton.

We know they have money to spend following their £10m transfer of Raphael Dwamena that fell through last week, and the sale of wanted man Tomer Hemed could take that to around the £15m mark.

09:08
Leicester's Musa is a loan target for Hull

Craig Hope: I was down at Hull City's training ground yesterday and spoke to manager Leonid Slutsky about Leicester striker Ahmed Musa, who he confirmed was a target.

He wasn't giving much away but I understand that move is likely to happen today.

The deal would be a season-long loan, which is quite a coup for Hull given he only signed for Leicester 12 months ago for £16.6m.

He scored four times for Leicester but looked lively from what I saw and, in the Championship, I think he could really thrive.

There was also some mention of Newcastle midfielder Jack Colback yesterday.

His loan move to Wolves looks to have fallen through and Hull could be an option, although they seem well stocked on midfielders now. Either way, Colback has no future at St James' Park.

Sportsmail revealed this month that his days were numbered and Rafa Benitez would like to offload him in the next 12 hours, although his wages being covered are the stumbling block.

09:06
Redknapp pleased with Jota signing

Kieran Gill: Former West Ham target Jota to Birmingham from Brentford for £6m.

Harry Redknapp just said on talkSPORT: 'He's got great ability. There won't be many better players in the Championship than him, that's for sure. We're very very pleased to have got that one done.'

09:05
Swansea table £12m bid for Norwich's Oliviera

Simon Jones: Swansea City have made a £12million bid for Norwich City striker Nelson Oliveira.

The 26-year-old had a loan spell at Swansea in 2015 scoring just one goal in ten games but Paul Clement believes he can have greater impact this time round.

Swansea had an £8million bid rejected for Burnley's Ashley Barnes and know that long-term target Wilfried Bony has an offer to join Verona in Italy.

They had a £10m offer for Oliviera turned down earlier this week. The Portugal international has also had offers from Reading.

Chelsea are expected to sign Fernando Llorente from Swansea today. The 32-year-old Spaniard also had interest from Everton.

Meanwhile, Norwich's Cameron Jerome is wanted by Derby County.

Leicester interested in £22m Adrien Silva

Simon Jones: Leicester City have made renewed enquiries for £22million-rated Sporting Lisbon midfielder Adrien Silva.

The 28-year-old has been earmarked as a possible replacement for Danny Drinkwater as Leicester expect renewed bids from Chelsea today.

Leicester had a deal in place for Silva last summer before opting to take Islam Slimani.

Sporting, who are still talking to Monaco and West Ham about the sale of William Carvalho, are looking to offload a number of players before the window closes.

They have also held talks with Brighton over a £2.5million deal for right-back Schelotto. The 28-year-old Argentine has also had interest from Sunderland this summer.

Watford are discussing a £3million deal for 27-year-old Sporting left-back Marvin Zeegelaar.

08:54
Will Gayle be leaving Newcastle today?

Craig Hope: The situation with Dwight Gayle at Newcastle remains a delicate one and events of this week will hardly have helped the player's mental state.

Rafa Benitez was willing to listen to offers for last season's 23-goal top scorer and a £15m bid from Fulham duly arrived.

Benitez has concerns over Gayle's attitude and they have long since disagreed over the striker's lingering hamstring complaint.

But, without a replacement to come in, Benitez knows he would be foolish to let Gayle go, even if their £20m valuation is met.

My feeling is that Gayle will now stay at St James' Park and there will be a little bit of bridge-building to be done in the coming weeks.

08:44
Mahrez delays flight to Zambia

Laurie Whitwell: One final thought (for now) on Riyad Mahrez. He was due to fly with his international team-mates to Lusaka in Zambia on Thursday morning for Saturday’s World Cup qualifier, and that would have made any transfer very difficult.

This move to Europe puts him in a better position should the bids he obviously hopes for materialise.

He has been training with Algeria in Sidi-Moussa and given his importance to his country it perhaps is no surprise they should be so accommodating for this 24-hour period.

08:41
Quina set for Sheffield United loan

West Ham teenager Domingos Quina is set for a season-long loan move to Sheffield United.

The 17-year-old , who played twice in West Ham's brief Europa League campaign last season, is in south Yorkshire for a medical.

08:38
Out-of-favour John set for Rangers loan

Sam Morshead: Declan John will sign for Rangers on loan from Cardiff today.

The Wales international is set to sign a season-long deal at Ibrox after falling out of favour under Neil Warnock at the Championship pace-setters.

Full back John has not played since April.

08:36
All's well that Denswil for Brighton

Kieran Gill: Brighton set to secure Club Brugge's Stefano Denswil on a season-long loan today. He's a 24-year-old Dutch defender.

Adding to their strike force is a top priority today, though. That's their aim.

08:34
Saints predict a quiet Deadline Day

Joe Bernstein: The word from Southampton is that the only transfer business they will do today in or out is to send a youngster on loan to gain experience.

So it appears Virgil van Dijk will not be getting his way to force a move to Liverpool.

08:32
Liverpool youngster Gomes to join Forest Green

Sam Morshead: Liverpool youngster Toni Gomes is set to join Forest Green Rovers on loan this transfer deadline day.

Gomes, a free-scoring Portugal youth international, will spend the season with the EFL new boys.

The exciting attacking talent is part of the Under 23 squad at Anfield.

08:28
Palace midfielder Mutch off to Burton

Joe Bernstein: While Crystal Palace try to find reinforcements for Frank de Boer, one man allowed to leave Selhurst Park is midfielder Jordon Mutch who is set to join Championship club Burton Albion, managed by Nigel Clough.

08:27
Las Palmas hoping to secure Remy signing

Oliver Todd: Las Palmas hope to secure a permanent deal for Loic Remy today as the unwanted striker nears a Chelsea exit at last.

Remy has been surplus to requirements all summer and was even available for a loan at this late stage but La Liga’s Las Palmas want a permanent move after agreeing terms with the 30-year-old.

Chelsea are set to be as busy with outgoings as potential incomings today, with their loan system going into overdrive. Brazilian forward Nathan is heading for newly-promoted Ligue 1 side Amiens.

08:26
West Ham to make one last bid for Carvalho

Kieran Gill: West Ham will try one last time for William Carvalho today, though it seems Sporting Lisbon can smell their desperation and are still after their full £40m asking price.

There is a suspicion that those links with Monaco have been conjured up simply as a way to make West Ham sweat.

Sporting are also in a strong position because they qualified for the Champions League last week and West Ham are bottom of the Premier League. Who is coming from a weaker standpoint of those two?

Busy day ahead of David Sullivan - the man who will be handling the talks. Slaven Bilic will be waiting by his phone for updates.

08:25
Rovers refuse to budge on Bodin despite Championship interest

Sam Morshead: Bristol Rovers seem to be willing to run the risk of losing Billy Bodin for free next summer as they dig in their heels over the forward’s short-term future.

Bodin has caught the eye of several Championship clubs, including Preston and Fulham, with five goals in six appearances at the start of the season.

But with just hours of the transfer window remaining any deal continues to look out of reach as Rovers refuse to sell.

Bodin’s contract is due to run out next year and the League One club will end up losing him for nothing if they don’t cash in today.

The forward, who has scored 31 times since joining Rovers in 2015, has no desire to force through a move or hand in a transfer request.

08:20
UPDATE: Leicester haven't received any more bids for Mahrez

Laurie Whitwell: How peculiar. Leicester are yet to receive any further bids for Riyad Mahrez and it remains the case that none has been accepted. Inquiries to the Algerian FA forthcoming.

08:11
West Ham in talks with Barcelona for Gomes

Dominic King: West Ham have been in discussions to take Andre Gomes from Barcelona.

The structure of the deal would be that West Ham would be able to take him for free if they can guarantee he will play 70 per cent of their games.

One player, however, who will not be heading to the London Stadium is Everton striker Kevin Mirallas.

West Ham made an enquiry for the Belgium international but it was immediately rebuffed.

Andre Gomes could be on his way to West Ham
08:04
Man City keen to get Mangala out the exit door

Jack Gaughan: Manchester City really, really need Eliaquim Mangala to move today.

Crystal Palace have launched a late £23m bid for the defender but it doesn't sound like that's too likely to come off at the moment.

Mangala has also turned his nose up at West Brom so far. City hoping that changes as the day goes on.

Simon Jones: Atletico Madrid and Chelsea have held further talks on Wednesday over a compromise fee for Diego Costa.

A Spanish lawyer representing Chelsea is understood to have listened to Atletico's proposal which is to pay around £39m with a further £10m based on add-ons.

Costa has interest from Everton, Las Palmas and Besiktas among others over a potential short term loan until he is cleared to be registered to play for Atletico Madrid in January.

UPDATE: 'Different options' for Mahrez today

Laurie Whitwell: Am told that Riyad Mahrez has ‘different options’ regarding his release by Algeria to conclude a transfer today.

Has Arsene Wenger followed through with his long-held admiration with a bid to replace Alexis Sanchez? Would Barcelona switch from Philippe Coutinho? Are Roma finally putting down the cash to convince Leicester to sell?

It is a fascinating development and unexpected, it must be said. Leicester are staying quiet right now.

West Brom have completed the loan signing of PSG midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak.

The 27-year-old, who joined PSG from Sevilla for £34million last year, will spend this season on loan at the Hawthorns - subject to international clearance.

'I am delighted to sign @WBA on one year loan,' Krychowiak said.

'I had a lot of offers from Spain and Italy. But this is a very ambitious club. There's a good atmosphere here.'

Bristol City slap a £5m price tag on Flint

Sam Morshead: Interested clubs will have to pay Bristol City’s massive £5million asking price if they are to sign Aden Flint on deadline day.

The defender has attracted interest through the summer, with clubs including Birmingham, West Brom, Middlesbrough and Fulham all keeping tabs on his availability.

However, none have been willing to match City’s valuation of the former Swindon player, which includes around £1m of add-ons.

Flint’s contract at Ashton Gate still has three years left to run and the club have no urgency to cash in.

The 6ft 5in centre back has forged a reputation as a goalscoring defender during his time in Bristol, scoring 29 times in just over 200 appearances.

Swindon would be a due around 20 per cent of the profit made by City in the event of any sale, having previously sold Flint to their local rivals for £350,000 four years ago.

Simon Jones: Swansea City could be poised to pull off a surprise coup with the loan signing of Renato Sanches from Bayern Munich.

Manager Paul Clement signalled an approach for the midfielder earlier this week after calling his old boss Carlo Ancelotti at Bayern and asking for the 20-year-old on loan.

Sportsmail reported Swansea's interest though they were considered far from favourites with Paris St Germain, Monaco, AC Milan and Chelsea also among the clubs to have asked but Ancelotti looks to have swung the deal in Clement's favour with talks underway.

BID REJECTED: Leicester turn down £25m from Bournemouth for Gray

Laurie Whitwell: Leicester have rejected an improved £25million bid from Bournemouth for winger Demarai Gray.

Eddie Howe is now weighing up a deadline day attempt to prise the 21-year-old away from the King Power Stadium but it would take a significantly increased offer. Howe saw an initial bid of £20m dismissed earlier in the window.

Leicester’s Thai owners are adamant that given his age and promise, combined with a contract that has three years to run, Gray is worth a considerable amount in the current market.

Gray wants more first-team football having started only 10 Premier League matches since joining from Birmingham in a £3.5m move in January 2016, but Leicester are ready to offer an improved deal as a sign of commitment.

Tottenham have inquired about Gray too but are at present indicating a reluctance to submit the kind of bid that would test Leicester’s resolve. Everton’s director of football Steve Walsh, once of Leicester, remains a fan of Gray too.

Gray is away with England’s Under-21s, who face Holland on Friday in Doetinchem, so any last-day move would be slightly problematic.

Leicester had checked on Andros Townsend previously this summer amid doubts about Riyad Mahrez’s future. But a swap deal with Crystal Palace taking Gray to Selhurst Park and Townsend to Leicester is not in either club’s plans.

But the Spaniard, who has established a reputation as a creative force since moving to Griffin Park from Celia Vigo, is bound for St Andrews.

Sami Mokbel, Dominic King and Simon Jones: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was on Wednesday night having a medical at England’s training camp and will join Liverpool for £35million on Thursday.

Jurgen Klopp has snatched the Arsenal star from under Chelsea’s noses after the Premier League champions agreed their own deal to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain earlier this week.

But as Sportsmail revealed on Wednesday, the 24-year-old was stalling on a switch to Stamford Bridge as Liverpool prepared to hijack the move.
