- Origi is far down the pecking order among the striking options at Anfield
Wolfsburg have moved into pole position to sign Divock Origi on a season long-loan.
The Liverpool striker is surplus to requirements for this campaign and has been linked with Tottenham and Monaco; there was a possibility of him being used as a makeweight in a deal for Thomas Lemar.
Liverpool had no intention of allowing him to move to a Premier League rival and with the pursuit of Lemar complicated – a fee for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has now been agreed – Origi is set to head to the Bundesliga.

The Belgium international is closing in on a loan move to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg
Origi was left out of Liverpool's squad for the 4-0 humiliation of Arsenal and manager Jurgen Klopp admitted he could leave on loan.
Despite scoring 21 goals in 77 appearances for Liverpool since his arrival two years ago, Origi is far down the pecking order at Anfield.
Even summer arrival Dominic Solanke is favoured ahead of the Belgium international.
Wolfsburg sporting director Olaf Rebbe said: 'We are looking for someone with an eye for goals. Our task is to find something that makes us better.'
