Jonny Evans is waiting on Manchester City offloading Eliaquim Mangala before leaving West Brom this week.

Pep Guardiola identified the 29-year-old as an ideal addition at the back earlier this month and believes Evans is keen to make the switch amid Leicester City’s firm interest.

City will likely have to shell out close to £30million for the Northern Ireland international, who coincidentally will use their training facilities this week while on international duty.

Michael O’Neill’s side are stationed in Manchester before travelling to San Marino for a World Cup qualifier on Friday.

There is a realisation at City that they must move Mangala on before Evans makes the City Football Academy his permanent home, however.

Mangala’s representative was in the UK on Monday in an attempt to thrash out a deal before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

West Brom boss Tony Pulis is an admirer of the 26-year-old, who has already turned down the advances of Spartak Moscow this summer. A loan deal would suit Pulis, although City are pushing for a permanent agreement.

Meanwhile, Patrick Roberts made a season-long loan move to Celtic on Monday after a successful spell there last campaign.
