Even later and worth even more. For the second time in the space of five days, Raheem Sterling allowed Manchester City to walk away from a ropey performance with something to show for it.

Against Everton on Monday, that meant an 82^nd-minute goal and a salvaged point. Here, it was a grubby deflection seven minutes into stoppage time and a win instead of what would have been a rather embarrassing draw.

For his trouble, he collected a second yellow card for over-celebrating with Manchester City’s supporters, the kind of refereeing decision that can be truly baffling.

They came so close to securing their first ever Premier League point against City but Sterling's late winner now means Bournemouth have lost all five the top flight clashes between the two sides.

Sterling continues his impressive record against Bournemouth - it's his sixth strike against the Cherries. 

Vincent Kompany on Sky Sports: 'It's absolute madness'. 

'I went over to Benjamin Mendy and said "Welcome to the Premier League". Absolute madness. I think we played just as we did against Everton. Today we deserved to win but they made it incredibly hard for us'. 

[On Sterling's sending off]: 'I don't know if he ran over to the fans or they ran over to him to be honest'.

That's it! The full time whistle blows in the 111th minute. Raheem Sterling's late, late winner settles it and Manchester City win 2-1. 

Brilliant ending to a thrilling game. Bournemouth's search for a Premier League point goes on but Pep Guardiola's men have snatched a valuable victory right at the death. 

It's all happening now! The goalscorer has been sent off. 

Sterling went over to celebrate with the City fans and some supporters made it onto the pitch. He has been shown a second yellow card presumably for provoking the away fans. Hero to zero for Sterling.

Raheem Sterling has won it!

Sterling collects the ball with his back to goal on the edge of the Bournemouth area. He feeds it to Kevin De Bruyne who passes to Danilo. Danilo crosses in and Sterling's shot takes a big deflection off Andrew Surman. It loops into the Bournemouth net. 

City's persistence finally pays off at the death but it is so cruel on Bournemouth. Sterling goes over to celebrate with the away supporters who spill on to the pitch. He has settled it!

Adam Smith is shown a yellow card. Mike Dean getting really card happy now.

The substitute is substituted. Benik Afobe picks up a knock and is brought off for Lys Mousset with Eddie Howe taking no chances here. 

Mousset hasn't scored for Bournemouth yet - would be a great time to open his account. 

And that's five players in the book for Manchester City. Frustration from Sterling who catches Arter and earns a yellow card for his troubles. 

Bournemouth slowing down the game now. 

Pep Guardiola is looking increasingly animated on the touchline as he watches his City team try and fail to break down Bournemouth's defence.

Guardiola and Howe get into an argument and Mike Dean comes over to play peacemaker. Howe looks displeased, Guardiola is getting tetchy. Five minutes of added time. 

Raheem Sterling is fouled and from the resulting free-kick, Aguero curls an effort wide of Begovic's goal. City running out of time here...

Bournemouth are sitting very deep at the moment, inviting City on to them. 

A weak attempt at a clearance from a tired-looking Ake falls to David Silva but the City midfielder fires over under pressure from Charlie Daniels. 

The Bournemouth man did just enough to put off Silva and the Cherries are edging ever close to their first ever Premier League point against City. Five minutes left. 

Leroy Sane comes on for Gabriel Jesus. Impressive display from Jesus today. Scored and caused problems for Bournemouth's defence all game. 

Sane takes up Jesus's position on the left - Aguero continues through the middle.

Mike Dean's dishing them out now - Benjamin Mendy becomes the fourth City player to go into the book for a cynical foul on Joshua King. 

The debut boy brings down King to put a stop to a Bournemouth counter attack. Professional foul from the Frenchman.

Steve Cook is shown a yellow card for a high challenge on Jesus - who has given Bournemouth's defence all sorts of problems this match. City applying the pressure as they bid to avoid consecutive 1-1 draws. 

Nicolas Otamendi heads Kevin De Bruyne's cross against the post.

The defender didn't get much behind his effort but it bounces off the ground and hits the post with Begovic stranded.

Both sides have now struck the woodwork in this second half. 

Jermain Defoe's first Bournemouth start has come to an end, he comes off for Benik Afobe. Afobe will partner King up front. 

Aguero's first sight of goal since coming on. Raheem Sterling runs at Bournemouth's defence and pulls it back for Aguero who doesn't quite catch it right. Easy save for Begovic.

Sergio Aguero goes down in the Bournemouth box and appeals for a spot kick. Mike Dean is unconvinced and waves play on. 

Replays show Aguero simply collided with Steve Cook in a 50/50 challenge. Bournemouth camped out quite deep at the moment - Jermain Defoe is isolated up front.

Nicolas Otamendi is shown a yellow card for persistent fouling - the third City name in Mike Dean's book.

The resulting free kick is whipped in by Adam Smith and Harry Arter sees a shot deflected behind for a corner - City clear.

Sergio Aguero comes on for Bernardo Silva. Looks like Jesus has gone out left to accommodate Aguero through the middle, Sterling remains on the right flank. 

For Bournemouth, Harry Arter looked to have picked up an injury and Lewis Cook was warming up but Arter has continued after some treatment.

Fernandinho is dispossessed by Harry Arter in a dangerous position and the ball falls to Charlie Daniels who plays a ball into Joshua King. 

The striker catches the ball sweetly and his effort cannons off the City upright with Ederson well beaten. First real chance for Bournemouth this half. 

Bournemouth make a mess of a free-kick in a promising position and City break through De Bruyne. He bombs forward but his cross is deflected away before it can reach Bernardo Silva.

Pep Guardiola took to his bench to break down Brighton in City's opening Premier league game and he could look to repeat the trick on the south coast once again. 

He sends Leroy Sane and Fabian Delph to warm up. City also have Aguero and Yaya Toure on the bench. 

Steve Cook takes out Gabriel Jesus with a crunching tackle - he gets the ball but follows through on the City striker and Jesus is sent flying. Mike Dean deems it a fair challenge to the annoyance of City's supporters. Jesus looks OK to continue. 

Joshua King is lively once again for Bournemouth. The striker bursts past Vincent Kompany and pulls back a cross for Jermain Defoe who can't connect. 

Up the other end Raheem Sterling gets forward but overruns the ball out for a goal kick to the exasperation of his manager. Poor decision from Sterling who could have cut inside and found Jesus in space.

Kompany is booked for a challenge on King, David Silva is shown a yellow for protesting.

We're underway in the second half. More of the same please! Let's hope this half is as entertaining as the first. 

No substitutions were made at the break - Ake continues for Bournemouth despite his injury towards the end of the first half. 

Benjamin Mendy is from the Dani Alves school of wing backs. The £52m man has been bombing up the left flank and the heat map reflects how far forward he has played in his City debut.  

The half-time stats reflect City's dominance since falling behind. They have had 10 efforts on goal to Bournemouth's five and have enjoyed 65 per cent of the possession at the Vitality Stadium.

The half-time whistle is blown - Bournemouth will be relieved to hear it. 

The Cherries started like a house on fire and went in front with a scorching effort from Daniels. But City responded well and Gabriel Jesus levelled from a brilliant David Silva pass. 

Pep Guardiola's men have dominated since and Bournemouth have been hanging on. Brilliant half of football from two attack-minded teams. 

Lovely stuff from Jesus. The goalscorer turns sharply in the box and delivers a clever back heel to his compatriot Fernandinho.

Fernandinho shoots at Begovic from a tough angle. Might have been better off crossing it from there. Jesus enjoying himself out there. 

Nathan Ake is down injured. The £20m man stretched to make a clearance but looked to have over-exerted himself and has fallen awkwardly. The defender has been run ragged by Jesus. 

Ake is receiving treatment - Bournemouth use the opportunity to take a breather from the relentless City attacks.

After some treatment Ake runs back onto the field - Bournemouth's physio might take a look at him at half time.

Danilo and Benjamin Mendy are playing as City's two most advanced players at times. The wing backs are out on each flank hugging the touchline as City camp out in Bournemouth's half. 

Pep Guardiola wants his wing backs to attack and they are certainly doing just that. City would be vulnerable on the counter but Bournemouth have barely got a kick since Jesus's equaliser. The Cherries will be relieved when the half time whistle comes.

Sergio Aguero might find it hard to get back into this team. Jesus has been directly involved 12 goals in 11 Premier League starts.

Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva are running things in the middle of the park now. Bournemouth's trio of Harry Arter, Andrew Surman and Dan Gosling can't get near them. 

Pep Guardiola's men fully in control after a shaky start. Bernardo Silva is put through by his namesake but dallies over his shot and aims a weak effort straight at Begovic. 

Another chance for City - David Silva is pulling the strings wonderfully in midfield. The Spaniard leads a counter-attack and finds the marauding Danilo who shoots at Begovic. 

Bournemouth's bright start has faded - City are laying siege to their goal.

Suddenly City are on top. A cross is whipped in to Jesus who thrashes an effort wide. The Brazilian is causing Bournemouth's three-man defence all sorts of problems. 

Nathan Ake is a lucky boy. The defender fouls Gabriel Jesus who looked to have a clear run on goal. Ake gets away with a booking but he could have easily seen a red. Replays show he was the last man.

Pep Guardiola makes his case to fourth official Lee Probert.

Spoke too soon! Out of nothing City are level. Bournemouth concede a free-kick, City take it quickly and find David Silva. 

The Spaniard carves open Bournemouth's defence with a lovely, disguised through ball to Gabriel Jesus, who holds off a challenge from Nathan Ake and tucks home past Begovic. 

Raheem Sterling looks to respond up the other end for City - the winger strikes a tame effort straight at Asmir Begovic. Pep Guardiola's men have not imposed themselves yet.

Andrew Surman is given time and space and the midfielder plays a delightful ball to Jermain Defoe who tests Ederson on the stretch. The City keeper denies Defoe before Adam Smith pulls a shot wide. 

A second goal wouldn't flatter Bournemouth. They have been terrific. 

AND WHAT A GOAL! Absolute stunner from Charlie Daniels. Vincent Kompany heads clear Dan Gosling's cross but it falls to Daniels who he lets rip a half volley from just inside the box from a tough angle.

His shot arrows straight into the top corner leaving Ederson with no chance. Bournemouth's impressive start rewarded with an impressive goal.

A searching cross from Kevin De Bruyne very nearly reaches Gabriel Jesus inside the six-yard box but Nathan Ake is at full stretch to prevent it from reaching the Brazilian. Great interception as he hooks it to his goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

After a City attack breaks down, Bournemouth counter - the ball falls to Joshua King who plays a one-two with Adam Smith before shooting inside the area.  The striker's effort is blocked by, of all people, David Silva. 

King left Nicolas Otamendi for dead there, impressive turn of pace from the Bournemouth man. 

Bournemouth have started well - the Cherries force an early corner which is swung in by Andrew Surman and cleared. Encouraging for Eddie Howe's side. 

Sergio Aguero did not warm up for Manchester City before the match - Alan Smith on the Sky Sports commentary reveals the Argentine stayed on the coach for longer than his team-mates. He is among the substitutes.

And we're off! Joshua King gets us started - here we go. 

It looks as if Bernardo Silva is playing to on the right, Raheem Sterling on the left - Jesus up top for City. 

Two minutes until kick-off! The teams are out on the pitch at the Vitality Stadium - Bournemouth supporters are in full voice as the Cherries look to get off the mark in the Premier League at the third time of asking. 

Raheem Sterling has scored five Premier League goals against Bournemouth; more than against any other club in the competition. This includes his only Premier League hat-trick, netted in October 2015 at the Etihad Stadium.

He scored last time the teams met - in a 2-0 win for City in February. 

Eddie Howe has set up his side to go toe-to-toe with City in a match which promises some free-flowing football. 

Adam Smith and Charlie Daniels will play as wing backs in a 3-5-2 formation - Joshua King partners Jermain Defoe up top. The midfield trio of Harry Arter, Andrew Surman and Dan Gosling will look to provide stability in the middle of the park. 

Wayne Bridge is at the game today and the former City man shared a moment with his old team-mate Yaya Toure before kick-off - who has been named on the bench.

Bournemouth have lost all four of their Premier League meetings with Man City with a combined scoreline of 1-15.

Last season City won 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium in February - with a strike from Raheem Sterling and a Tyrone Mings own goal. 

Benjamin Mendy will make his debut for City - the defender joined from Monaco this summer in a £52m deal but had been sidelined through injury to start the season.

The Frenchman replaces the suspended Kyle Walker and City's Twitter account are clearly excited to see their new signing in action.

Guardiola has such a plethora of attacking options to choose from it must be a real headache selecting the best formula.

Jermain Defoe starts up front for Bournemouth alongside Joshua King in an attacking line-up for the Cherries. 

The veteran striker comes into the team in place of Benik Afobe, who drops to the bench. Tyrone Mings comes in to Bournemouth's defence.

Pep Guardiola has left out Sergio Aguero in place of Gabriel Jesus. The pair partnered each other up front in City's first two matches but Guardiola has reverted to one up top. 

Raheem Sterling's cameo off the bench against Everton has earned him a starting spot - likewise Bernardo Silva. Benjamin Mendy makes his debut.
