Valencia are interested in signing Andreas Pereira, with the decision over whether to leave Manchester United on loan largely down to the player.

Jose Mourinho has made it clear to Pereira that he would like him to remain with United's first-team squad this season.

But there is an acceptance by the 21-year-old that games are likely to be limited and dependant on progression in cup competitions.

Valencia are keen to land Pereira, who spent last year on loan at Granada and encountered the short reign of Tony Adams.

Mourinho was impressed with the central midfielder during the tour of America in July and gave him the No 15 shirt for this term. The manager would rather Pereira stay at Old Trafford to learn under him.

'I am very happy that I am back, and I can be part of this team,' Pereira said last month.

'I will try to do my best to stay here, get an important role for the season, to help my team-mates and to impress the manager.

'It boosts me that the people here trust the young players. I am very happy for the young players and I want to be a part of this team as well.'
