Tyrone Mings thanks Anthony Watson for signed Lions shirt... but Jack Nowell rip into him for spelling mistakes

  • Anthony Watson writes touching message for Tyrone Mings on signed Lions shirt
  • The Bournemouth defender posted a picture of his new shirt on Twitter
  • But his Lions team-mates quickly noticed a spelling mistake on the shirt
  • Watson claims he was rushed after Jack Nowell points out grammatical error

Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings was evidently chuffed to receive a signed British and Irish Lions shirt from Anthony Watson; enough to post a picture of it on his official Twitter page.

But in doing so he set the heroic wing up for a verbal drubbing from his team-mates after fellow Lions star Jack Nowell noticed a rather obvious grammatical error in an otherwise touching message.

The message read: 'Ty, Keep hustling brother, be persistent. Your [sic] the man bro.'

Nowell quickly called out Watson for using 'Your' instead of the grammatically correct 'You're' in his message, taking to Twitter to make sure rugby fans across the world saw it as well.

But Nowell was not the only man to get involved in the joke with former England and Lions international Ugo Monye questioning Watson's use of the unknown acronym YBR while Kyle Sinckler could not help but contribute a couple of emojis.

Watson defended himself, saying he had been 'rushed' while writing the message, which will surely take some of the shine off it for poor old Mings, who merely wanted to show off his prized possession.

The 24-year-old faces a crucial season at the Vitality Stadium as he continues to make up for time lost to a serious knee injury suffered in 2015. Mings was ruled out for 12 months shortly after becoming their record signing in an £8m deal from Ipswich.

He managed seven Premier League appearances towards the latter end of the last campaign but saw it cut short after receiving a controversial five-match ban for an apparent stamp on Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Mings always maintained that he accidentally trod on the Swede's head as he ran to defend the ball but the FA came down hard on him after ruling it was deliberate.
