- Jose Mourinho said Danny Rose's explosive interview is 'not my problem at all'
- Tottenham defender had attacked his own club for low wages and ambition
- Manchester United boss had been linked with move for 27-year-old defender
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has admitted reading Danny Rose's explosive interview in which he complained about Tottenham's lack of ambition but cheekily quipped he didn't put the defender up to it.
Mourinho has been linked with 27-year-old Rose who comes from Yorkshire and has said he would like to return to the north to play.
But with a glint in his eye, the United boss said he wasn't going to publicly agitate to get Rose to Old Trafford because he didn't want to upset Spurs chairman Daniel Levy or manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Jose Mourinho insisted Danny Rose's explosive interview had nothing to do with him
'I should not comment because Mauricio would not be happy if I comment, Mr Levy would not be happy if I comment and because I had nothing to do with that interview,' he said.
'I just read it the way you did, I just read but Danny Rose is a Spurs player and it is not my problem at all.'
The Tottenham defender complained about low wages and a lack of ambition at Spurs
Rose has since apologised to Spurs for publicly commenting on the club's pay policy and lack of transfer activity.
There had been reports he could move to United in a deal that would see Luke Shaw move in the opposite direction.
Mourinho wants one more signing but said he wouldn't moan if it didn't happen, having already landed Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof for a combined outlay of £146million.
Rose has since apologised to his side for the comments he made in the interview
