We are into four added on minutes at Stamford Bridge. Burnley playing keep-ball...

RED CARD: Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)

Remember that stupid yellow card Fabregas picked up for dissent earlier? Well it's come back against him as the Blues midfielder is dismissed for a second bookable offence after a poor challenge on Jack Cork.

Chelsea are now down to nine men and surely Burnley are safe to win at Stamford Bridge for the first time since 1971 now.

16:37
GOAL! Crystal Palace 0-3 HUDDERSFILED TOWN

I know it's the opening weekend but let's have some fun... Huddersfield Town are heading for the top of the Premier League table!

With 12 minutes left Steve Mounie grabs his second goal of the game by smashing home. Aside from that Benteke header, Palace have looked toothless.

16:34
Chelsea 1-3 Burnley

Andreas Christensen takes the ball past heaton before firing towards goal, only for Morata to get the final touch into the net and getting correctly flagged offside for it. Burnley wobbling, Chelsea sensing a comeback is on.

16:32
Alvaro Morata gives Chelsea hope by pulling a goal back

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata comes on for his Premier League debut
Chelsea's Alvaro Morata comes on as a substitute to replace Michy Batshuayi
16:22
From Sportsmail's Oliver Todd at St Mary's

'Southampton looking good in Mauricio Pellegrino’s first game — but no clinical edge at all.

'Creating plenty of chances but barely testing Lukasz Fabianski, who has just watched a pair of Manolo Gabbiadini shots drag wide and a series of crosses fail to find a man in the middle.'

16:22
West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Bournemouth

Shot shy Bournemouth also send on a summer signing up front as Jermain Defoe replaces Benik Afobe for the struggling Cherries.

16:20
Chelsea 0-3 Burnley

The champions can't even find any luck on set-pieces as Tom Heaton is equal to a Marcos Alonso free-kick to tip the ball behind for a corner, which Burnley's defence are also equal too.

16:19
Chelsea 0-3 Burnley

On comes Morata for his Premier League debut, and he replaces fellow striker Michy Batshuyai. The £70million summer arrival did nothing against Arsenal on his debut, now is his time to make an impact in front of a highly frustrated Blues fanbase.

16:17
Chelsea 0-3 Burnley

Coming up to the hour mark and Chelsea are ready to make a second change, and it's Alvaro Morata getting ready to come on as Sam Vokes glances a Robbie Brady cross just wide with a header for Burnley.

16:14
Crystal Palace 0-2 Huddersfield Town

Palace have also made a change to send on Andros Townsend for Luka Milivojevic, and they are at least trying to get back into the game.

Christian Benteke looks sure to pull a goal back with a header only for Huddersfield keeper Jonas Lossl to make a superb stop.

16:12
West Bromwich Albion 1-0 Bournemouth

Bournemouth have sent on Jordon Ibe for Marc Pugh at the break in an attempt to get a foothold in a game dominated by West Bromwich Albion.

It's not working so far as the Baggies continue to dominate.

16:10
Chelsea 0-3 Burnley

Chelsea didn't have a shot on target on the first half but they begin this half by forcing Tom Heaton into a smart stop, with the Burnley keeper tipping over a long range Marcos Alonso shot.

16:06
The SECOND HALVES are back underway...

No changes at all from Chelsea. I'm a little bit surprised about that....

16:01
From Tom Farmery for Sportsmail at Selhurst Park
16:00
Meanwhile at the home of the champions...

There were HUGE boos from the home fans at the break too, mainly for referee Craig Pawson and hid decision to send Gary Cahill off with a straight red card.

They don't really have a case. Pawson seemed well within reason to dismiss the Chelsea skipper and it's been downhill ever since for the Blues.

Everton have laboured in this first half, but what matters to the Toffees fans is that they lead and one of their own has got the goals as Wayne Rooney heads home in stoppage time.

15:43
GOAL! Chelsea 0-3 BURNLEY

What on earth is going on at Stamford Bridge?! Chelsea are all over the place as Sam Vokes doubles his tally for the afternoon two minutes from the break by heading home. Surely time to throw Alvaro Morata on at half-time?

15:39
GOAL! Chelsea 0-2 BURNLEY

Six minutes before the break and the champions are looking like total chumps. Burnley are cruising now as Stephen Ward doubles the lead for a side who could hardly buy a point away from home last season.

15:38
From Sportsmail's Tom Farmery at Selhurst Park

'Aaron Mooy and Steve Mounie really have opened Palace up here. Mooy provided the corner which led to the own goal and his superb cross has just been headed home by £11.5m club record signing Mounie. The Palace fans are getting restless.'

From Sportsmail's Dominic King at Goodison Park

'So 20 minutes gone and we have finally had our first shot of the game, a right-footed drive from 20 yards by Idrissa Gana Gueye that was comfortably saved by Jack Butland.

'For all the optimism that has been swirling around Evertonians this summer, it is not being reflected in the atmosphere here.

'It doesn't feel like the opening day of the season and nobody has stood out yet. Things can only get better from here.'

15:31
GOAL! WEST BROMWICH ALBION 1-0 Bournemouth

Chris Brunt's set-pieces I feel are underrated at times, and the Baggies stalwart strikes again with a superb free-kick turned home by Ahmed Hegazi.

15:25

And it just gets worse for the champions! Our first goal of the afternoon sees Sam Vokes' effort into the bottom corner takes a slight deflection off David Luiz.

15:23
West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Bournemouth

If at first you don't succeed, try then try again. Rodriguez has already been denied by Begovic once, and the Baggies debutant has had a further two opportunities both saved by the former Chelsea stopper.

15:20
Chelsea 0-0 Burnley

And that's the end of the Jeremie Boga experiment too, with the midfielder sacrificed from to bring on Andreas Christensen to replace Cahill at the back.

15:18
Chelsea 0-0 Burnley

That Cahill red card looked like a good call from the match referee Craig Pawson, who isn't afraid to make decisions against the hosts as now Cesc Fabregas is booked for sarcastically applauding the match official after awarding Burnley a free-kick.

Chelsea's Gary Cahill is shown a red card following a challenge on Burnley's Steven Defour
15:13
RED CARD: Gary Cahill (Chelsea)

Interesting. Chelsea have already lost one captain in the summer, now they lose another (for today at least) as Gary Cahill has been given a red card for a high tackle on Steven Defour.

Can the Blues keep up their early dominance or does this allow Burnley into the game?

15:13
Chelsea 0-0 Burnley

Chelsea are starting to get into their stride now after a promising opening from Burnley. Still no real chances though as James Tarkowsski clears to deny Michy Batshuayi a chance to turn home a deflected cross.

15:10
West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Bournemouth

Top save from Asmir Begovic as the Bournemouth keeper somehow keeps out a rasping six-yard effort from West Brom new boy Jay Rodriguez

15:08
From Sportsmail's Oliver Todd at St Mary's

'Really quick start from Southampton here, with Ryan Bertrand leading the charge in the opening minutes.

'First, the England left back’s corner is headed on to the top of the crossbar by Manolo Gabbiadini two minutes in.

'Then, just two minutes later, he bursts through on to Nathan Redmond’s ball to the byline and knocks it back into the path of Dusan Tadic, who must score… but somehow doesn’t, sending his right-foot finish wide as he adjusted his body inside the six-yard box.'

Manolo Gabbiadini of Southampton heads towards goal in the early stages against Swansea
15:06
Southampton 0-0 Swansea City

Good chances early on already but Dusan Tadic is wasteful for the Saints as he fires wide from close range. Bit of a let off that for Swansea City.

15:04
Crystal Palace 0-0 Huddersfield Town

An early opportunity for Huddersfield as Tommy Smith picks out Tom Ince, who struggles to get the ball out his feet before firing straight at Wayne Hennessey.

SAMI MOKBEL: Diego Costa has opened a legal case against Chelsea over his pending exit from Stamford Bridge.

Last week the striker's legal representative Ricardo Cardoso threatened Chelsea with a lawsuit regarding the club's treatment of the Spain striker, particularly their refusal to sanction his protracted return to Atletico Madrid.

And Sportsmail understands proceedings have now started.

Chelsea hand a debut to midfielder Jeremie Boga

A big surprise in the Chelsea line-up sees a debut for Jeremie Boga, with the 20-year-old creeping into a Blues squad which looks well short of experience on the bench.

MARTIN SAMUEL - CHIEF SPORTS WRITER: If he had known it was going to end successfully, Arsene Wenger would probably have taken victory in this remarkable fashion.

Better than a comfortable 2-0 coast at home any day. More inspiring than three points taken in the conventional fashion, certainly. Here is something on which to build. A fightback, a show of strength and spirit. Arsenal won with courage and gusto. They can take that to the bank.

Today's drama is already underway at Vicarage Road and the first half has seen three goals as a Liverpool side without Philippe Coutinho due to injury (and nothing to do with Barcelona's interest, nope, none whatsoever) find themselves behind at the halfway point.

Goals either side of a Sadio Mane equaliser from Stefano Okaka and Abdoulaye Doucoure ensure Marco Silva's side have the edge at the break.

The Premier League is back with a bang!

We can all stop dining on nonsense pre-season friendlies now, as the gourmet of Premier League football is back.

Still just under two hours until kick-off, but the likes of Wayne Rooney are already arriving at Goodison Park for the first batch of 3pm games of the season.

Good afternoon all and welcome to our live coverage of all five mid-afternoon matches.

Wayne Rooney is preparing to play his first Premier League game for Everton in 13 years

Chelsea begin the defence of their Premier League title when they take on Burnley at Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Conte's side stormed to the title in the Italian's first season in charge but, in the face of renewed competition from both Manchester United and City, face a battle to retain the crown.

Also during the opening round of 3pm kick-offs, Hudderfield play their first Premier League game away at Crystal Palace while Everton, complete with their string of new signings including returning hero Wayne Rooney, begin against Stoke.

Sportsmail's Dan Ripley brings you all the action from around the grounds on the first Saturday of the new campaign.
