Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho enjoys dinner with his assistants Rui Faria and Ricardo Formosinho ahead of the new season

Following a whirlwind summer than has taken them from Los Angeles to Skopje, Manchester United are finally set to begin the new Premier League season.

Jose Mourinho's side take on West Ham at Old Trafford on Sunday, hoping to improve on last season's sixth-placed finish.

And on Thursday night, Mourinho took a break from his training ground preparation to head out for dinner in Manchester.

Alongside assistant coaches Rui Faria and Ricardo Formosinho, the United manager wore an Adidas tracksuit and appeared relaxed ahead of the return of the Premier League.

Mourinho, who has been staying at the Lowry Hotel since taking over from Louis van Gaal, only recently returned to the UK following United's Super Cup defeat by Real Madrid earlier this week.

Goals from Casemiro and Isco secured victory for Zinedine Zidane's side in the European curtain raiser on Tuesday night. But Mourinho won plaudits after he handed his runner's up medal to a young fan in the crowd.

Attention now turns to domestic action for United and the Portuguese boss will be hoping to have another medal hung round his neck come May.

Mourinho has sought to strengthen his squad over the summer, bringing in Nemanja Matic, Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku for a combined fee of more than £145million.

And Matic has called on his side to hit the ground running when they begin the new season at Old Trafford on Sunday.

'We have to rest well because we have a very important game on Sunday against West Ham,' Matic said after the Super Cup.

'It's the start of the Premier League and it's very important for us. As you know the Premier League is the main target.'
