  • He took part in his first training session with his new team-mates on his birthday
  • Matic then visited Cheshire to dine out with his wife and son

Nemanja Matic has had a busy first full day as a Manchester United player as the midfielder dined out in Cheshire and looked for a new house after training.

The birthday boy, who turned 29 on Tuesday, was pictured getting used to his new surroundings with his wife Aleksandra.

And his son wasted no time in donning a Manchester United shirt as he wore last season's blue strip.

New team-mate David de Gea took to social media to welcome him to the club and wished him happy birthday.

'Welcome to the Manchester United family and happy b'day Nemanja Matic!'

Earlier in the day, Matic took part in Tuesday morning's training session as Jose Mourinho put his players through their paces ahead of the final friendly of pre-season.

Mourinho's men face Italian side Sampdoria in Dublin on Wednesday before taking on Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup next Tuesday.

Matic became United's third summer signing on Monday when Chelsea confirmed his £40million departure to Old Trafford.

The Serbia international has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at United and they have the option of extending his deal by a further year.

Matic is short of match fitness but could make his first United appearance against Sampdoria.
