- They doubled their lead a minute later with James Ward-Prowse's low shot
- In the dying minutes Saint Etienne conceded a third from Maya Yoshida's header
Three second half goals saw Southampton to pick up a pre-season victory over Ligue 1 side Saint Etienne.
After a goalless first 65 minutes at a tiny stadium in Chambery, the Saints broke through with two goals in as many minutes.
Manolo Gabbiadini headed home Matt Targett's cross, before the young left back again provided, with a low ball turned in by James Ward-Prowse - who himself provided the assist via a corner for Maya Yoshida late on.

The opening goal came via a quick move from the back, with Targett crossing from deep and Gabbiadini helping it over the goalkeeper with a header from 15 yards.
Targett then provided a very different kind of cross - a daisy cutter from near the byline after an overlapping run - but with the same result as Ward-Prowse finished with power with his right foot.
In the last few minutes, Ward-Prowse played a perfect outswinging corner to the near post from the right, Yoshida powering in the header from six yards.
