  • Middlesbrough are determined to sell their star player to a top six side

Middlesbrough have resisted a third bid from West Bromwich Albion for centre half Ben Gibson.

Albion are up to £18million plus £3m in add-ons with their latest offer and Gibson is keen to stay in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old was ever-present for Middlesbrough last season, starting all 38 of their Premier League games, a streak he wants to continue with a new club in the upcoming season.

Middlesbrough are to offer Ben Gibson a new contract in the hope he stays at the club

West Brom have seen a third bid for Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson knocked back

Boro, relegated after one season in the top flight, are determined to only sell Gibson to one of the top six and are aware of long-standing interest from Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino, however, has no plans to move into the market for a central defender unless his club sell Kevin Wimmer.

Southampton and West Brom have both shown interest in Wimmer who is valued at £20m by Spurs.
