Arsenal and Bayern Munich have trained at the Shanghai Stadium ahead of their highly-anticipated friendly on Wednesday.

There were thousands of Arsenal fans in attendance and they were greeted by their Gunners heroes, who stopped to sign autographs and pose for pictures.

Arsene Wenger even got to enjoy a positive reception - something that rarely occurred in a tumultuous Premier League campaign last season -  with a supporter holding up an 'in Arsene we trust' sign and Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti stopping for a lengthy chat.

Ancelotti and Bayern inflicted misery upon Arsenal last season in the Champions League, defeating the north London side 5-1 in both of their Champions League last-16 legs.

Arsenal, of course, failed to qualify for the Champions League this season and there is speculation surrounding the future of star man Alexis Sanchez.

Wenger has been coy on Sanchez's future but speaking at a press conference ahead of Wednesday's encounter, the Frenchman showed his hand.

'We have played for 20 years in the Champions League,' Wenger said.

'That's 17 years before Sanchez arrived and three years with him. So he can get us back in there.

'When you play in the Champions League, everyone says: Is that all you do? Suddenly when you don't play in there it becomes a major problem.

'At the end of the season, only one team can win the Champions League.

'We have to focus on the competitions we play in and prepare seriously for that. We can't feel sorry for what we do not play.'

Sanchez is not with Arsenal on this tour due to his involvement with Chile at the Confederations Cup.
