Chelsea star Eden Hazard and Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye become part-owners of new San Diego NASL team

- The expansion team will be based in San Diego and play in the US second tier
- Senegal international strikers Demba Ba and Moussa Sow are also investors
Eden Hazard and Yohan Cabaye are among the investors in a new US team which will be based in San Diego and start to play next year.
Chelsea star Hazard and Cabaye, who plays for Crystal Palace, will invest along with former Senegal international strikers Demba Ba and Moussa Sow and other local business executives.
The San Diego team will play in the NASL (North American Soccer League) the second tier of football in the US, which confirmed the announcement on Monday.

Hazard, 26, said: 'San Diego is a beautiful place and the love and passion the people have for soccer made this an easy choice for us. My friends and I are honoured to turn this dream into a reality and we can't wait to get started and win some games.'
Cabaye added: 'It's unbelievable to be part of this project, and I just want to do my best for the club and for San Diego'.

'Success is our goal – with the club, with the community, with everything that we do,' Ba said. 'One of our goals is to sign players who have a strong passion for the game, who are competitive and love to win.
'All my life as a football player, I lived with competition and competition is going to be good for us and for San Diego.
'I look forward to competing against our fellow California clubs and the rest of the NASL, as well as MLS clubs in the U.S. Open Cup. It is going to be up to us to be the best.'
