Walter Mazzarri was looking to the future with Watford despite ongoing reports his position remains precarious.

The 55-year-old Italian was upbeat despite the 4-3 defeat at Premier League champions Chelsea on Monday night.

'There were some positives and some not so, but it was a good game and we are still evaluating for next season,' Mazzarri said on watfordfc.com.

Next season will be Watford's third successive campaign in the top flight and Mazzarri is pleased as survival came despite challenges.

'The most positive thing is that we had 40 points with six games remaining and many injuries,' he said.

'We have four defenders injured and we still played how we did (at Chelsea).'
