Graeme Souness has slammed Arsenal's 'weak personalities' and predicted that the Gunners will finish sixth in the Premier League this season.

The race for the top four looks set to be as tight as ever with just nine points separating second-placed Tottenham and and seventh-placed Everton.

Arsenal and Manchester United sit fifth and sixth respectively but have games in hand on the other Champions League contenders.

But Souness doesn't think the North London outfit have what it takes this term.

'Arsenal usually falter in February or March, then reach the top four with a late run in April and May, but I don't see it happening after the defeat to West Brom', he told The Times.

'As long as there are doubts over Arsene Wenger's future, it gives the weak personalities in their squad another excuse,' he added.

On United's prospects, the former Scotland international remained unsure.

'I expect them to put a run together but will it be enough? They might have had too many home draws in the first part of the season and they are still showing signs if that, with one against Bournemouth recently.'
