Barcelona midfielder Sergi Samper: I told Arsene Wenger I was not interested in his Arsenal offer

Barcelona's Sergi Samper has spoken about how he told Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger that he did not want to listen to any of his offers.

Samper, 21, says Wenger approached him last year but he let the 67-year-old know that he was not prepared to leave his La Liga club.

The midfielder is currently playing for Granada after Luis Enrique sent the Barca starlet out on loan for the season.

Wenger saw something he liked in Samper but the Barcelona-born player only wants to succeed with the Spanish giants.

'I did not want to even listen to Wenger,' he told Sport.

'I made it clear to him that I wanted to stay, that I wanted to triumph at Barca, that I was a Cule fanatic and that making it at Barca in the future would make me the happiest.'

Samper has played once in La Liga for Barcelona but he is focused on helping Granada try to avoid relegation this season. They currently sit second bottom.

'I feel an important part of the team,' he added. 'I am happy where I am and I hope we can turn things round.'
