For now I will leave you with Simon Jones' transfer column concerning all the latest stories.
Cheerio.
PAUL MCNAMARA: Petr Cech is backing some of Arsenal's more unheralded performers to shoulder the responsibility of replacing the 'great' Per Mertesacker at the heart of the Gunners' defence.
Mertesacker is expected to miss five months with a knee injury sustained in pre-season training. And with the German's fellow centre half Laurent Koscielny yet to report back for club duty following his involvement in France's Euro 2016 campaign, manager Arsene Wenger is currently shy of defensive options.
Wenger is eyeing up potential recruits but for now it is up to Brazilian Gabriel Paulista, 21-year-old Calum Chambers and new signing Rob Holding to pick up the slack.
CHRIS WHEELER: Manchester City are in talks to sign Everton defender John Stones and Schalke forward Leroy Sane, new coach Pep Guardiola has confirmed.
Both deals are being held up over the clubs’ valuation of the two players, with Everton holding out for £50milion for Stones and Schalke demanding £41.5m for Sane.
It is understood that City have offered £40m and £35m respectively, but both transfers are expected to go through before the start of the Premier League season in just over two weeks’ time.
SIMON JONES: Mino Raiola held another meeting with Juventus officials and lawyers in Turin on Thursday afternoon to iron out the finer details of Paul Pogba's world record £100m transfer to Manchester United.
Juventus held the talks with Pogba's agent prior to unveiling Gonzalo Higuain as their new star signing.
The Italian champions expect the fee and the payment of Raiola's 20 per cent bonus to be resolved before the weekend.
Juve believe the Pogba deal will be finalised soon - United staying quiet until it's done.
SIMON JONES: Wolves have had three bids rejected by Blackburn Rovers for winger Ben Marshall.
The 25-year-old was the subject of bids from Brighton too last season but Blackburn rejected £4million for the former Manchester United trainee.
Marshall has been promised a new contract at Ewood Park but is open to leaving after three seasons with the Championship club.
Marshall made 48 appearances in all competitions last season and scored six goals.
Wolves are working to bring in three other signings with Benfica's Pele and Helder Costa plus Atletico Madrid full-back Silvio still in talks.
Benfica's £20m-rated forward Talisca, another Wolves target, was not at Benfica's game against Torino on Wednesday night, though a move to Molineux is not considered imminent.
LAURIE WHITWELL: Andy King is poised to sign a new four-year contract at Leicester City in a boost to the Premier League champions.
The Wales international has been rewarded with improved terms after contributing to the
club's remarkable success last season.
King's current deal expires in 2018 but he is set to commit until 2020, extending his spell as Leicester's longest-serving player.
RIATH AL-SAMARRAI: Swansea City have added Peter Crouch to their shortlist in their search for a striker, with Bafetimbi Gomis’s loan move to Marseille set to be completed on Thursday.
Gomis’s exit will follow those of Alberto Paloschi and Eder, leaving the Welsh side desperately short on strikers.
Swansea sources claim Francesco Guidolin is considering using Andre Ayew as his main frontman in the new campaign, but the options for further reinforcements now includes Stoke striker Crouch.
DANIEL SANDFORD: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that the arrival of further additions to his side is something he is uncertain of, but each member of the current crop will play a significant role.
Thirty four different players were used in the Premier League alone last season by the German, as he juggled domestic commitments and a Europa League run which culminated with a 3-1 loss to Sevilla in the final.
This one refuses to go away, and reports in France are suggesting that Riyad Mahrez's proposed £37million move from Leicester City to Arsenal is close to getting over the line.
Le Buteur reports that the only sticking point in the deal is the transfer fee which is yet to be agreed by the clubs with Mahrez having long agreed terms with the Gunners over his salary, contract period and bonuses.
Having spent part of last season at Bristol City, Sunderland defender Adam Matthews has rejoined the Robins on loan for the 2016-17 campaign.
Matthews played just twice for the Black Cats following his arrival from Celtic last season and the 24-year-old has now been deemed surplus to requirements by new manager David Moyes.
JOE BERNSTEIN: Manchester United's Brazilian Under 20 international Andreas Pereira has been told he can go on loan as manager Jose Mourinho conducts 'clear-out Thursday' at the club's Carrington training base.
Mourinho, who is eager to whittle his first-team group down to 24 players before the start of the season, plans to speak to up to nine players through the day, dividing them into 'potential United players' who will be made available on loan, and those who have no future and can leave on a permanent basis.
Periera, 20, was one of the first to see the manager and was told he should go and get regular first-team football elsewhere before returning to Old Trafford to try and fight for a place.
JACK GAUGHAN: Paul Pogba's first coach has urged him to seal a 'beautiful' switch to Manchester United - in a bid to prove himself.
The Juventus midfielder has been subject of interest from United all summer, with the club still retaining unwavering confidence of landing him.
That is despite Zinedine Zidane confirming Real Madrid had entered the race to sign the £100million-rated Frenchman.
Although the Rangers manager does appear to rule out a move for Robin van Persie after declaring that the Scottish Premiership outfit are not tracking any names linked on social media... but then he would say that.
'We have a number of targets, none of which are on Twitter and none of which have been released,' Warburton told RangersTV.
'We would like another striking option and another defensive option in an ideal world but they have to be players who add value on and off the pitch and that’s really strong.'
Juan Iturbe played just one game for Bournemouth after arriving on loan from Roma earlier this year, but that isn't stopping interest in the Paraguay international.
The forward could be set for another departure from the Italian capital, with Atalanta interested in the 23-year-old according to Italian reports.
SIMON JONES AND AMITAI WINEHOUSE: It never just rains where Arsenal are concerned. A summer of slightly questionable recruitment has been made to look even worse by the sudden blow of losing club captain Per Mertesacker to a knee injury.
Laurent Koscielny will also miss the start of the season to rest up following France's run to the Euro 2016 final.
Sportsmail has taken a look at the options that Arsenal could choose to recruit to deal with their defensive crisis.
Robin van Persie has been linked with a return to Premier League clubs including Stoke City, Middlesbrough, West Ham United and Crystal Palace.
But bookmakers Coral have slashed odds to as low as 1/4 that the former Manchester United hitman is poised to join Rangers following their return to the Scottish Premiership.
One to keep an eye on...
The 19-year-old is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Baggies and has left on a six-month loan deal with no option of recall.
Earlier we reported on Swansea's interest in Fernando Llorente, but the Premier League side are in the market to sign at least two strikers.
As well as the Spaniard, Sportsmail's Simon Jones reports that Francesco Guidolin is also monitoring Stoke's Peter Crouch, who has slipped down the pecking order under Mark Hughes, as well as West Ham United's Enner Valencia.
SIMON JONES: Southampton have opened talks with Anderlecht over teenage midfielder Samuel Bastien.
The 19-year-old has been on loan at Italian Serie B side Avellino and was targeted by Liverpool earlier this season.
A Belgium Under 21 international, Bastien is a high energy skilful midfielder and valued at around £4million.
SIMON JONES: Blackburn Rovers have offered £500,000 for Derby County left-back Craig Forsyth.
The 27-year-old Scotland international missed the majority of last season with a cruciate ligament injury that he picked up playing against QPR in November.
He made his comeback with a 45-minute appearance in Derby’s friendly against Benfica last week and played against Chesterfield at the weekend.
SIMON JONES: Southampton are in talks with Crystal Palace over a deal for goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.
Manager Claude Puel wants cover for Fraser Forster after Kelvin Davis retired and on-loan Maarten Stekelenburg returned to Fulham prior to being sold to Everton.
McCarthy, 26, signed for Palace last summer from QPR for £3.5m and played seven games.
SIMON JONES: Fulham are discussing a £6million deal for Montpellier striker Steve Mounie.
The 21-year-old Benin international scored 11 goals on loan at Nimes last season and has travelled to London ahead of talks and medical tests.
Fulham have lost Moussa Dembele to Celtic and expect to sell Ross McCormack to Norwich for up to £12million.
SIMON JONES: Swansea City have made a last-ditch bid to sign Fernando Llorente from Sevilla.
The 31-year-old Spain international was on the cusp of agreeing a move to Real Sociedad on Wednesday before Swansea stepped in with a better offer.
The Premier League side are looking to bring in two strikers after allowing Alberto Paloschi and Bafetimbi Gomis to leave but have been rebuffed in a £7million bid for Leicester City's Leonardo Ulloa.
SIMON JONES: Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is close to finalising a new season loan at Roma with the view to a permanent £13.4million permanent transfer.
The Italian side are finalising terms over the Poland international's wages but expect Szczesny to sign imminently.
The 26-year-old, who joined Arsenal from Legia Warsaw in 2006, made 42 appearances at Roma last season.
SIMON JONES: Liverpool teenager Taiwo Awoniyi is discussing a loan move to Dutch side NEC Nijmegen.
The 18-year-old Nigerian forward joined the Reds last summer from the Imperial Soccer Academy for £400,000.
He then had a loan spell at FSV Frankfurt where he made 14 appearances scoring one goal.
I still need convincing but either way the Juventus midfielder would be an improvement to the Manchester United starting XI and that's all the Red Devils are after...
John Stones is set to move to Manchester City for a record £50million and terms could be finalised as soon as the end of the week.
City re-opened talks with Everton over the England defender after the Merseyside club rejected a £40m bid earlier this month.
Juventus are ready to allow Paul Pogba to join Manchester United for a world record fee of £92million plus £8m in add-ons, if United agree to pay the 20 per cent bonus due to the midfielder and his agent Mino Raiola. Even further add-ons may come into play if he wins the Ballon d'Or.
And it seems to be all coming from the Manchester clubs - £150million of it regarding the potential purchases of Paul Pogba and John Stones.
So good morning all - and let's begin today's live transfer news with the latest on both players.
The Premier League season is almost upon us and clubs are finalising deals to give them the best chance of getting their campaign off to the perfect start.
Manchester City are looking to complete a deal to sign Everton defender John Stones for £50million while Arsenal are prepared to offload goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to Roma on loan.
