Arsenal unveil new home kit for the 2016-17 campaign as club reveal Alexis Sanchez will wear the No 7 shirt next season

With their Premier League campaign coming to an end just a week ago, Arsenal are already looking ahead to next season after unveiling their brand new home kit for the 2016-17 campaign.

The Gunners' new design was created by Puma, who they signed a £30million-a-year deal with for five seasons back in 2013, and was modelled by first team stars including Olivier Giroud, Hector Bellerin and Santi Cazorla.

The current stars were joined by three of the Arsenal's 'Invincibles' side - Robert Pires, Thierry Henry and Fredrik Ljungberg - as the club pay tribute to the memorable and record-breaking team.

France international Giroud was delighted with the creation and praised the work of Puma's design team following the kit launch

Puma say they have taken inspiration from managers, players and historic moments that defined the club throughout the 1990's but have put their own modern spin on the new creation.

While the shirt follows last season's design of white sleeves and shoulders, Arsenal have gone with the traditional colours on the torso but have included a darker red stripe down the middle of the shirt.

The kit will set fans back at least £55 for a basic home kit short sleeved shirt with no number, with the 'authentic home shirt' priced at £100.

While the shirt certainly looks good on the eye, Puma have made sure they've included all the modern features to help the players physically on the pitch.

The new performance shirt features the new apparel technology, ACTV Thermo-R, which is strategically inserted in both the front and the back of the shirt to help players maintain an optimum body temperature.

A unique phase-change material is injected into the shirts' inner athletic tape, which allows microcapsules to absorb excess heat and release it back to the body when needed. 

Monreal will be looking forward to wearing the kit next season after establishing himself as the club's first choice left back

Bellerin took to Twitter to show off his kit to the fans and said: 'Here's my new @PUMAFootball @Arsenal kit!! What you guys thinking?'

The taping in the shirts provides an extra snug fit, micro-massaging the skin in specific areas to enable a faster, more effective energy supply to the active muscles. 

The players seemed delighted with the new creation and France international Olivier Giroud praised the work of Puma's design team.

He said; 'Puma has done a great job with the new home kit. They have designed a shirt that is influenced by our classic home kit and added modern features, which will ensure we stand out and look good on pitch.

'Our traditions and the iconic home shirt are very important and I know our fans are going to be very happy with it. It's a very nice looking shirt and I'm looking forward to wearing it next season.'

It has also been revealed by the club that star man Alexis Sanchez has changed his squad number for next season and will wear the No 7 shirt, previously donned by Tomas Rosicky. 

Sanchez has worn the No 17 since arriving at the club from Barcelona two summers ago, but his move to No 7 has calmed fans' fears that he could be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium during the transfer window. 

The Arsenal Ladies side will debut the new kit on the 26th May in the USA when they play a friendly against the Seattle Reign at the Memorial Stadium.

The club also revealed that Chile international Alexis Sanchez will wear the No 7 shirt next season and previously have the No 17

After failing to win the Premier League title, Arsene Wenger and his side will be hoping the new kit can provide them with the luck needed to take the next step and compete.

And Mikel Arteta, who is poised to take up a coaching role at the club, admitted the Gunners missed the perfect chance to lift the Premier League title but conceded that Leicester City were deserved winners.

He told The Sun: 'It was in our hands and the year to do it. We are all gutted we didn't do it. We came up short. Leicester were more reliable and consistent and they deserved to win the title.

'We do have regrets because at Arsenal you have to win. You have to win trophies.'
