Manchester United legend Paul Scholes was more influential than his Liverpool counterpart Steven Gerrard, according to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
Both Scholes and Gerrard dominated midfield at their clubs for more than a decade, but it was the United man who was more vital to his side, the former France striker has argued.
And Henry, who won the World Cup and European Championship with France, as well as lifting the Premier League twice as a player, says England should have won the World Cup with the pair together in midfield.

Asked if there were any players who he would like to have played with, Henry (above) answered 'Paul Scholes'
Henry said his Arsenal sides always had to focus their attention on how to stop Scholes at Manchester United
Asked if there were any players, current or former, with whom he would like to have played, the Arsenal legend answered 'Paul Scholes'.
'The next one would have been, right behind, very close, Stevie G,' Arsenal's record scorer told Sky Sports' Monday Night Football. 'But I have to go with Paul Scholes.
'He was just ahead in his head. He made Manchester United tick. Every time we were playing them we needed to find a way to stop him.
Scholes and Gerrard were of the 'golden generation' with David Beckham, Michael Owen and Frank Lampard
Gerrard is now plying his trade in MLS, where he has recently joined LA Galaxy after leaving Liverpool
'It's true. I think Stevie G comes really close to him.But Paul Scholes would have to win.'
The Gunners legend also said he couldn't understand why, with both men in midfield, and the likes of Frank Lampard and David Beckham also part of their 'golden generation', England did not do better on the international stage.
He insisted: 'You guys in England had, on paper, the best midfield in the world.'
