Arsenal have their 'best squad since the Invincibles'... they can win the title, believes club legend Ray Parlour

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour is adamant that this season's squad is the best that Arsene Wenger has had at his disposal since their last title-winning side 11 years ago.

The Gunners have only made one signing so far with the £11million arrival of goalkeeper Petr Cech from London rivals Chelsea last month.

The capture of Cech has increased optimism at the Emirates Stadium ahead of the new season with the 33-year-old's experience set to prove crucial as they bid to challenge Chelsea for the Premier League.

But despite Arsene Wenger having made only one signing, Parlour believes this is their best squad since 2004

And Parlour, who was part of the club's Invincibles side during the 2003-04 season, believes the addition of Cech allied to the talent already at Arsenal means this is their best chance of being crowned English champions in over a decade - providing injuries don't take their toll throughout the campaign.

'It's definitely the best squad since the Invincibles,' he told the Daily Mirror.

'They need to steer clear of injuries. Last season, if the injury list was a bit lighter at certain times then they would have been a lot closer.

'The most important thing in any squad is to have the right team spirit and harmony. Everyone has to be pulling in the same direction. You can't have some not getting on with others, a personal feud or something like that.

'At the moment, it's the best I've seen in terms of team spirit for a long time. I think now, winning the two FA Cups, they believe they can go to the next level which, for me, is winning the league. That's the most important trophy. That shows you how consistent you are throughout the season.'
